I drilled holes in a 2x4 for my bullet connectors.works great.

Yeah, wood is a very poor conductor of heat. I had planned to do that myself. But then I would have a holey piece of wood that someone else would likely throw away (my employess like to toos out the useful stuff and save all the junk). Maybe if I find a nice cut off I will make one and label it well, and put a disclaimer that I will castrate anyone who touches it.

For bullet connectors I use a small block of wood with the proper size holes drilled in it. Simple and easy.

Looks to me like you're the echo

I use one of these and I also have a set of helping hands. Between the two of them, I'm set for any job. I like the KillerBee jig when soldering extensions to servo/ESC leads.
