I'm not a full bottle on the technicals but I have kids in that age group. Out of the wii and xbox they use the wii more. The xbox controller is purely for finger use. The wii controller can be used in the same way or swing it 'round like a bat or (with an addtional accessory) as a steering wheel. It just seems more versatile out of the box. I also feel some of the games are more suited to that age group, not too technical. My youngest (4) can use it, if I set up certain games for her.

If you get a dvd player, it will more likely have more features than an xbox or wii can offer.

I own all three consoles and of the three I use the PS3. I bought the PS3 first because it was a blu-ray player, (I thought it was the most versatile) I bought the Wii really for my kids, (but it's fun to play that every once in awhile), and I bought the Xbox really just because I thought it would work better as a media player, ( all the computers in the house are Windows based). All Blu-ray player will play legacy discs (Cd's and DVDs). To be honest I really don't have time to play games that much these days but when I do it's mainly driving games. I really think the Grand Turismo is the best driving game out there. That is another reason I really like the PS3 (GT is exclusive to that console). Hope that helps,
Mike.
