I agree with all of the above! I have spent countless minutes trying to explain to people the instantaneous torque available with electric motors negates the need for a multiple speed transmission, which was invented for an ICE with a peaky powerband.

As soon as spring has sprung I will be doing speed runs with my brushless baja. This is where my first thought about a cvt came to light. On a baja I would imagine more of a drive/driven clutch setup like what is found on snowmobiles.

As it is r/c handling and aerodynamics are the limiting factor for top speed runs, not torque, power or lack of a transmission.

I guess this whole post is kind of a moot point, I just wanted to share what I found. (while scouring ebay for other needed parts)
