I personally think this would work well for you given your requirements.

Seriously though, something like this is what I was thinking about. Simple, cheap, decent reviews, plenty of storage, compact, etc.

And about biking with a radio: I use a normal headset, but also have those little mirrors on the handlebars to see behind me...

I like this idea. I dont think there is a phone out now that wont play MP3s, and they usually have a headphone jack
