never done it myself really. I'll go grab one and see how hard it looks.

edit: looks like only 2 tiny screws to get the canopy off, but the battery is soldered directly to the PCB. So I guess they sell the spare batts as more of a replacement when the one in the unit goes bad. You could always mod up a jst connector or something as well.
