xo-1 esc in a slash 4x4 - 09.25.2013, 01:03 PM

I bought an xo-1 ESC pulled from a new xo-1 to pair with a 2650 or 2200 motor for a mt slash 4x4. Will this work? Will the limitations imposed on the ESC to keep the xo-1 from reaching 100mph without the apple app cause me problems? I will certainly not be going 100 mph lol.

Plan on gearing for around 45-50 mph on 5.5" tires, and maybe slamming it and doing speed runs sometimes. But still at or under 60.

I think it needs to be unlocked, even to be used as a reg esc. I know my xo-1 locked wouldn't go maybe 50mph..

Does it just calculate the speed it thinks you are running based off input voltage and what should be stock tires and motor? If I can get full power in the slash to 50 mph with a 2650, 4s or less, and pede or maxx sized tires that would suffice until I figure out how to unlock it.

Do I need the castle link and the traxxas app and a tqi with docking base to do it?

If I get a tqi with docking base and the traxxas apple app, is that all that's needed? Or does anyone know yet?

Thanks a bunch!

Looks like I should have held off for a mmm but this was a good price. I've been wanting to upgrade from am anyway, but wasn't ready to do so yet.

I'm afraid it will have to be installed in an xo1 with telemetry to unlock. If I just need to hook it up to the traxxas app with a tqi then that's not so bad.

Try your local hobby shop. They might have the kit to do it.

I plan to try that first. They haven't seemed very helpful in the past.

I've been researching it tonight, and from what I gather, it seems I just need a tqi with an idevice. It didn't appear that it cares much about the sensors and stuff, its just a list of waivers and such to sign off on.

You need the TQi and I device but only one time. Once you have unlocked the ESC witht he Idevice it is unlocked and stays that way unless you lock it again. After it is unlocked you do not need the IDevice connected to keep the ESC unlocked.

This is correct. The ESC must by unlocked first using the TQi radio with the iPhone/iPod touch and using the unlocking app. Once it is unlocked you'll need to hook it to the Castle Link and disable the "Castle Link Live" feature. The CLL feature must be enabled while going through the unlocking process.

Cll is what allows you to tune it with the link app?

I have purchased a tqi with docking base and the receiver. I have an iPhone I can borrow.

If I can get the profile properly set to a slash after unlocking I wouldn't mind leaving the Traxxas link installed and add telemetry at a later date.

Is the ESC tuneable via castle link? I was under the impression it was not.
