Strobe doesn't fit under gearcover? - 04.26.2006, 08:31 PM

I finished installing my Strobe slipper onto my Emaxx this evening, however I noticed the gear cover won't fit over it - its making contact with the spur gear. Is this normal, or have I put the spur on the wrong side of the strobe? I think its assembled right.

Also, why do some people take the grease out the bearing in the strobe?

Cheers.

You take the grease out so it does ruin the pads. The gear cover won;t fit either, is ok though....what spur and pinion are u using?

If you mod it out it may work. It is a discussion on the cover around here some where. Not sure if any one found a cure or not. It won't fit with out mods.

newuser use the edit button.

if you get the wirers away from the spure or pinion then you dont need any cover. but another downfall is that it's easy for dirt to get in that area and that mod 1 wont fit.

I think Mike was confused by the two users not using a avatar. It's hard to tell the difference if you look at it quick.

Funny though..

You accually can mount it different ways to give you more room. You may try to flip it on the shaft and on the slipper to. If you really want the cover. I not sure if it will fit or not but could try. May have to be a certain way.

I put a few spacers between the motor mount and the cover and it fit beautifully, no need to mod the cover

Your pinion gear still fit in there? Cuz i tried that with a 16pin and it still would not go. How many spacers?

I think it was with a 14 or 15, it was almost 1/4" of spacer
