You would be better of with a normal car controller for sure.

Yes it will work, not as well as a car controller though. Just keep an eye on your temps...
I am using a pheonix HV110 with my 12xl on 8s. I was able to program the controller so that the nutral position is correct with my JRXS3. Although, I haven't been able to repro this with my Nomadio Sensor yet. Other than flipping my truck on its lid and chewing up my spur gear on the first run, it works great! :005: After a 10 minute run, the controller gets a little warm ~110 but the 12xl gets even warmer ~130.
