Li-Saver Question - 06.03.2006, 02:55 AM

So I was starting to take apart the old dual BL Maxx today to get it ready for the new motors (7XL's vs. old 9L's) and replacing the the old 28cells with the new 5s LiPo packs.

I took the Li-Savers out of their packages and was reading the instructions and on one side of the page it says to attach the red & black wires to the "Battery or Speed Control". Then on the other side of the page it shows the wiring diagram and says "Connect red & black wires to battery wires" yet the diagram shows the red & black wires leading to the speed controll.:032: :007:

I would think that the better place would be to connect to the speed control because connecting to the batteries you would always have to disconnect the li-saver when you took the batts out.

I believe a couple of us here are running the Li-Saver, what did you guys do? Where your instructions wacky like mine?

Well if you hook them to the main wires from the battery to esc. Then when you plug them in they are hook to the batteries. It sounds confusing but not to bad. I wired mine just like and same spot as the ubec.

I just soldered mine to the deans plug of the ESC. Works Fine. Great little device.

Next question.
Because I am running dual brushless and I will obviously be using 2 Li-Savers, will they still function propperly by using this Y connector? See Pic Below.vvv
You know, because only one Li-Saver is suposed to plug in to the receiver and with this application they will both be going to the same port on the receiver.

It may work for one but it won't make both stutter. I would hook them in line between the rx and y harness. That away it would stutter both motors if one battery got lower than the other.

Like coolhand said, hook them in series. That way if one of the battery sets goes lower in voltage, then it will trigger the stuttering or whatever the LiSaver does when the low voltage cutoff is hit. If you put them in parallel, then the LiSavers would only be effective if both were making the throttle stutter at the same time - this could be bad if one battery has a slightly lower capacity than the other.

Metal man. From my experence it starts a stutter. Then if you try to push it. It goes to a wide open reverse.

If it starts to stutter johnny. I wouldn't advise to push it.

How would I connect them in series? Anyone have a diagram or a link that would show me how to do this?

Leroy, so when they start to stutter there is a chance that it can go in to WOT reverse?:eek:

Plug one in the rx then plug the 2nd on in the first lisaver. Plug the y harness in the 2nd lisaver and then the two escs to the y harness. I am afraid so johnny. I didn't know either until it happend to me. It is fine if you let off the throttle when it starts.

Yep, one goes into the other, the other into the receiver.

Ok. Only cause I don't want to mess anything up, I'm just making sure I've got this right, so bare with me. See if you can follow the spaghetti.
So Li-Saver #1 goes in to rx (bottom of pic), Li-Saver #2 plugs in to Li-Saver #1 (middle of pic), Y harness plugs in to Li-Saver #2 (top of Pic), then one esc to one side of the Y harness and the other esc to the other side of the Y harness (back down to middle of pic again).

So if everything is ok there, does it matter wich Li-Saver connects to wich esc?

That looks right to me. It is hard to see it all cause went off the screen. I would run it like that if it makes you feel better. The other way is like metal man said. both packs would have to go under the 3volt before it would let you know. Which could be bad.

Ok, this is how I hooked it up. I believe this is how you guys were telling me to do it.

I did not include the red and black wires attatched to the LVC's because we know where those go.
