Have you tried different gearing? Smaller pinions should reduce the temperature on the motors and the Super Rooster.

I only have 2 pairs of 14t and 16t so I guess I should try some more. It came with generic silver can motors and the 14t, so maybe I need to gear down with 8 cells.
