Possible Winter Project: Brushless Jammin.5 - 11.08.2006, 12:20 PM

After seeing that Ofna is going to release a Jammin CRT.5 which is going to be about 1/12 scale, I thought it would be a good brushless project. The truggy uses the same diff spider gears as the 1/8 version so the diffs should be nice and strong. The wheels are standard B3 offset and 1:10 2wd buggy rear tires. It has sealed front, centre, and rear diffs tunable using standard diff oil.

I am thinking of using the Mamba Maxx 5700 and 3cell lipo, probably the new Kokam packs. As for gearing I will have to wait until it is released to see what gearing I am going to need. The great thing is that they are going to be selling a Semi Pro Kit version which is a preassembled chassis without motor or electronics.

Any comments are welcome or suggestions for other components to be used.

Here is a pic of the Jammin.5:

NICE!!

1/8th diffs on a 1/12th seem like a tough setup..

Perhaps the 4600 is a better choice. Any idea what spur this baby takes?

Or use a Lehner 1930 with the mamba-maxx controller. The lehner has got serious torque.

Very little is known about it so far, but the spur is hardened steel. Not sure on the tooth count, but the pitch is mod1.

How about the Neu 1509/1.5y/s with Mamba Max controller?

Cant use the 4 pole motor (neu) on a mamba max. Unless you use a MGM or Quark. Looks like a great project! Good luck!

The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL

Are you sure? There are at least 4 guys here that are using a Neu motor (4 pole) on the Mamba Max.

Instead of the Kokams, you should go for the FlightPower Evo20 4900mah 3s pack.
Quite a nice pack with looooaaaaads of POWER. Cheaper than the Kokams, too.

We forgot to welcome you, Venom.

Thanks for the tips.

I hope it comes out soon so I can really start working on this. I have converted a Hyper 7 to run on an EVX and two titans, so this shouldn't be too different.

Mamba Max 5700, 3s 12000 max amp lipo, and set up the esc so you dont do triple backflips ever time you tap the throttle! You should be able to get 1hr. 30mins.!

The Neu's CAN be run on the MM. If the diffs and what not are that strong, I would go 5700, but that's just me!

For something the size of that thing, I'd recommend the 5700 also unless you're wanting to run 3S all the time. 3S on the 5700 will likely cause it to be undriveable anywhere but on a large flat surface. If you want to run 3S all the time, I'd go with the 4600 instead.

I think one of the 380c fegaios would be better, or a 1509 1.5y. Would be smaller and faster and i'd stick with 2s lipo because the 5700 on 6 cells is a real animal

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

Maybe the 5700 with 2 cell for majority of running and a 3 cell for giggles.

Anybody use the new Orion/Peak 3200 2cell LiPo packs, the ones with a hard case?

I think that's a great project and have been thinking of it myself. I think my brother in law will be doing one too.

It seems very similar in size and layout to my Hot Bodies Lightning Stadium 10 that I converted. I used the Mamba Max system with the 5700 and two Polyquest 3100mah 3 cell lipos in parallel. I had to go down to a 10 tooth pinion to keep everything cool. I think the Ofna will be slightly smaller, so the 5700 should be ok. I would wait to see what the exact dimensions will be though before deciding on the motor. If it's basically the same as the Lightning, then I would probably go with the 4600 based on my experience. Besides, with the 4600 you could do a 4 cell. :027:

Either way, good luck and keep us posted!
