i am currently trying to decide on what brushless setup to run and am having trouble deciding. what would offer the most over-all power? i want a lehner because from what i hear there alot better motor over the feigao. also i would prefer to get a good speed controller under 200. also if you could, would you please tell me the max number of cells the motor could handle w/o problems and series or paralle? any help would be much appreciated.

What cells are you planning to run? How heavy is your truck?

You have a few choices in the ESC department for $200 or less. Need to know what yu're gonna putting it in and how many cells you plan to run to give the best advice. Don't know who said that about the Feigao motors but the 8s I have is a nice quality motor. Actually, many people here would sooner buy a Feigao because they're so close in quality to the Lehner and Hacker motors that the price jump isn't worth it to them, myself included.

sorry to be so vage but it will be in an e-maxx thats gonna way in at about 9 lbs. the batteries i have for it are only 2400 that have a bad memory and dont last to long so im going to have to get some cells and make some packs so depending on what i get in terms of motor and speed controller depends on what bateries i run. im not going to run lipos (for a while), and, as i said, i am gonna run the max number of cells i can.

would you please recommend a comperable lehner motor? like the xl3100 is what i was thinking but it said you can only run up to 12 cells or can you safely run more?

The xl3100 can be run on 14 cells. It will be very fast oin this cell count as well. The xl2800 would be my choice on 14 cells, though. It will be plenty fast/powerful, but will get a better runtime. If you just want pure power, the 3100xl with 16 cells will be pretty insane! This is a little on the hot side, though (Motor will run hot). Are you racing? bashing? street running?
Drive train hopups will be necessary with this level of power as well (you may already have the needed stuff or at least know they will be needed, but I figured I would mention it).

uh i would mostly be running it like in my neighborhood with the weekend racing, but it will be set up for racing. so its safe to run the xl3100 on 14 or 16 cells? what about 18 maybe for racing in the main?

I doubt you could hold the 3100 on a track with more than 14 cells. The power would be so explosive, you would have a hard time getting traction. The motor could take it, but it will run hot and be very hard to control.

Just be sure to use topnotch cells when you run the XL3100 on 14 cells!

It is quite current thirsty.. and the motor won't be any stronger than the amount of power your batteries can deliver!
