5 cell + mamba 25 in a tenth scale for racing?

I dont believe the mamba 25 has thermal protection, but I know how to use a temp gun, as long as it does'nt light off the first time I squeze the trigger. don't want to waste money on a motor and small bec if this is a totaly unusable idea.
I do have a couple old 10c t.p. 2100 packs one 2s and one 3s laying around to test with and the mamba 25.
thinking slightly smaller mah 20c pack if it became permanent. eventual truggy could use 2p for 5min heats add parrallel packs as needed to make the main normaly 10min. around here ocasionaly 30min.
