loose pillow ball screws

Does anyone else have problems with their revos pillow ball screws losening up all the time. :019: I feel like Im constantly tightening them. Every other pack I run I grab he wheel and can see the pillow balls are loose again. I'm not getting this. Either this a crap design or Im doing something wrong here. I have the little red o-rings on the screws that are supposed to prevent them from losening up. I hate to gober it all up with thread lock, but if thats the only way it will stay adjusted...

I have the same knuckles on my e-maxx converted to 3.3 knuckles and sliders and never have an issue. They are set it and forget it.

Any sugestions???

I ran a whole crapload of teflon tape (stuff that you put on pipes to seal them). They seem to be holding up quite well.

The other option would be to drill a tap a very small hole in the knuckle itself to hold the pivot ball cap in place.

You are speaking of the pivot ball caps that hold the pivot balls in the knuckles, preventing play, right?

I have a couple like this myself. I haven't tried much yet. I was wondering
the same if others was having this problem. It is not real serious yet.

Are you talking about the pillow ball unscrewing from the A-arm, or the pillow ball cap loosening?

I have never had major problems with either of these. I usually checked the pillow ball cap once every several days of running and maybe one would need slight adjustment to be perfect.

Since then, I started using the RPM axle carriers (kept breaking the stock ones) and seem to be tightening them more often, but nowhere near once per pack.

It sounds like the grub screw idea that BP-Revo suggested might work well for this.

I have problems with the caps brian. They screw in so loosely. I just haven't took time to fix them.

Yea... The Cap keeps losening and then you get play at the hub. Im finding it REALLY annoying.

Hmm. That is strange. Well, then I'd use the Teflon tape or the grub screw idea...

I don't think it take a whole lot to make it stay.
It is a plastic cap and plastic knuckle.
Maybe I put a small ding in threads on cap and it should stick better.

I was just thinking that someone may have come up with an elegant soulution.

All of these ideas sound like they would work. I may invesitgate trying to find a slightly thicker oring to replace the stock one.

What o-ring are you talking about? I can't seem to recall an o-ring of any kind.

Personally, using Teflon tape sounds like the best solution so far. A grub screw or CHC's "dinging" the threads both involve somehow defacing the threads.

I found me some ones with the orings in my box.
They are integy though. t3624s part number
I broke one of the caps by putting a small but on threads.
I will have to get back to you on how it works

No problems with the ones on my 3.3 so far.

Probably a "loose" batch of carriers.

Yea I agree. It seems like something is out of spec on mt revo cuz like I said. I never have an isse on my Maxx that I converted to 3.3.

Maybee I should just upgrade them to the RPM or aluminum ones and forget about it. Though. Durability wise I hate to upgrade cuz they are more than strong enough for me. Ive never broken one so upgradeing seems silly unless there is a performace gain. I guess I could call less hassle with loosening pillow caps an upgrade.

I like the 8mm axle upgrade that Squee pointed ot in another thread but... $200 for hub and axes seems like alot to me.

yes it is quite a bit for that you could get alu hubs and a full set of ue 6mm cvds if they fit the revo.

I tried the thread buring that don't seem to hold well.
I did try a dab of blue loctite on the others.
I will let dry and see about a test run soon.
I can let you know for sure if it works or not.
The caps upgrade to the part i listed would work wonders.
I see no problems with that.
