I would like to see it with a little more room. I bet it would get down.

Peace!

I agree with Leroy. it would be nice, and even for you I bet, to get that thing into a football field or something and really stretch her legs!

Well, it's been three months...and I finally have the new diff! Sorry for bringing an old topic up, but I don't think this needs a whole new topic. Here it is:

This is the very first prototype diff that I've been sent to test. The outer gear-adaptor and inner diff cup are machined 7075 aluminium, with Savage 4-bevel innards. The whole unit is sealed so it can be filled with oil, and uses custom-modified 6mm outdrives (can use 8/9mm if required) and flanged bearings.

I got it all installed in the rear today and filled it with 3000wt oil in preparation for another test run...which in summary, went very well! The power and speed was incredible as it was a hot, dry day and I was able to go to the local park to really open her up...and WOW it's got some top-end! I reckon it was pushing close to 50mph on grass (with lowest motor timing), and I feel it could've gone faster still with a bit more room. While I didn't drive aggressively, the diff and everything else held up excellently. The truck also handled rough ground at speed really well, and cornered with very little chassis roll. It was very predictable and easy to drive.:027:

However...not everything went well. It was fairly hot outside (somewhere between 80 and 90F) and the rear motor was overheating far too easily. After doing several speed runs, the temperature (via telemetry) was already hitting 160F...and at one point, touched 190. I wasn't driving anythere near all the time, so this definitely needs looking at. For the time being I'll see if I can fit a fan, but hopefully a colder day will help.:013:

And I know, still no proper video yet...but I WILL get one I promise! Anyway I'll stop blabbering now lol. Thanks for looking.:018:
