gotmy esc back in... wierd things... - 02.11.2007, 11:47 AM

hey well after waiting about a month i finally got my esc back in. they replaced the motor wires with some smaller guage wires. replaced the heat sink, and put the switch back on. well the swtich already broke. i turned it on about 5 times and it was already done. but w/e no big deal.

my problemis that every once in a while it will cog SO bad that it wont move anywhere. just stutters massivly. when i turn it on and off it makes no startup noise and wont give me any power. if i dissconect all the motor wires and connect them again it works perfectly fine.

what is the problem? is it because they installed smaller wires or something? also why would they put on smaller wires when the other ones were perfectly fine.

thanks for any help.

You sure they didn't just pop in a new board into the case, or give you a whole new ESC? It does sound like a lot of work to replace the HS, and wires, and switch...

well i threw away the reciept they gave me but those were the things listed on what all they did so idk.. but i put on some 6 and 7 cells today and it never did it... maybe my 3sa123 are pushing too much power...?

idk but i figured out that i only have to take out the black wire and put that one back in to make it work.. so idk

3s A123 cells is only ~11v. People have run 15v and higher with no issues so I doubt the voltage is too high. Maybe your pack has a bad solder joint? And the batts don't "push" power (well, actually they do, but not in the way you are thinking), they deliver whatever the load they are connected to requires. Does anything heat up (batts/ESC/motor)?

And what do you mean about pulling the black wire? What black wire? The only wire you should remove is the red wire in the throttle cable to disable the BEC...

you know how there are 3 wires that lead to themotor? well if it ever "cogs" then i unplug the battery and unplug that black wire (there is red black and white) then plug it in... after that it works untill the next time it does it then i have to do it again... lol

idk what to do thogh

Once you unplug the batteries, unplugging any of the motor wires should have no effect whatsoever. If anything, it's probably coincidence. What motor are you using with it? If it still gives you trouble, I'd call Castle back up.

using there motor. idk what its problem is but if i turn it back on without unlpugging that black wire it wont work but once i unlplug it and plugit back in it works fine.

maybe that wire like isnt getting the correct connection or something

and yes everything gets decently warm when i drive for more than like 5 min. more than like 7 min and i have to stop driving because its at 150 degrees... i need to get a 14t pinion for it because im geared with a 5.44 ratio or something like that (87/16)

150 degrees is perfect, no trouble there. 180 is on the warm side.
