Traxxas Stampede XL-5 or HPI E-savage?? - 03.24.2007, 04:27 PM

I am simi new to the rc car world, I just am a basher. I own the older model stampede i have enjoyed it and now i am looking to upgrade. I have narrowed it down to either the Stampede XL-5 or the E-Savage. I understand that the e-savage is a better but a more expensive truck ($150 more). Is it worth the extra money or should i just stay with the stampede?

Well, the E-Savage will be 4wd, which is the biggest difference. Also, with something that large, cost goes up siginficantly for all the nice brushless stuff.

I'm a Traxxas guy, so I'm going to go ahead and say the XL-5 Pede.

Personally I would stay away from the e-sav until they upgrade the diff output gears and driveshafts. I have snapped many and have finally given up. Some have converted to e-maxx diffs and half-shafts, but that takes some work. I think a fastlane brushless stampede would be a blast!!!!!

Why haven't you considered the good ol' e-maxx. It is about the same price as the e-savage, and then when you get the extra money, there are a countless number of upgrades for it.

But between teh e-savage and xl-5 stampede, I'd say the stampede.
