The same reason I had to use Scott to get my UE stuff. Why is it so hard to get membership on that site?

I bought some UE stuff from him. A set of knucklehead towers new in package, cant remember what else at the moment but it all seemed legit. He told you what shape it was in and was generally close. I liked the dude. Hope he didnt do that on purpose cause those racer x's in those pics are so fake even he would have known. Glad I bought the rest of my stuff straight from UE site.
One other thing, he was selling those wing mounts for VBS that you could tell were fake, sometimes he called them UE sometimes not

It may have been stated already, but, I'm no rocket scientist, nor do I have experience with UE products, but this is CLEARLY not CNC. Polishing would not give it such dull lines. It's cast, without a doubt. I hope this guy gets what he deserves.

I bought a set of the high impacts in July and have been so busy, I barely looked at them, just sat them aside for a rainy day project when I would have some time to use them. I've been working out of the country for long stretches and its been hard to stay in touch.
Now I read this and sure enough, my impacts are the fakes, big time. I shouldn't been so trusting, but I'd bought from him before and items were always exactly as advertised - and hard to find too - needed 2 sets of VBS bumpers and jounces and he came thru.
His ads states a 'no questions asked return policy". My pair of fakes have been sitting in the same bag he sent them in, absolutely unused. Guess I'll be asking how he wants me to return them and how he will be refunding my money. What a moron to think he could pull crap like this and not have it blow up in his face. I'm always amazed when someone gets to thinking like this, how can you be so stupid??
Now MM is on his case too.

Well my silly a** paid $165 for mine, and I'm still waiting to hear something back from Billy - I never used them, barely looked at them til I got back in country and read about this. His ebay ads alwaysn list a "no questions asked" return policy and I intend to get my money back, at least thats what I've asked for.
Just about 2 weeks before I got these, there was a set on ebay from another seller that were prob real that I didn't win. My last min bid of $275 was sadly outclassed by the $345 that won. The rarity and the demand make these go for that kind of loot. I'm guessing it was this kind of cash that got Billy started. I would've never bought these if I thought for one sec they were not UE. I was in too much of a hurry to get things together to leave (going out of counrty to work for 3 months) and just wasn't paying enough attention.
Pardon me, but I'll believe MM about cranking out new setbacks and high impacts when I see them in the store for sale. His last venture, monoblocks, took a long time to sell. When he starts remembering that and pricing raw material to buy, I wonder if we'll ever really see any.
I'll be happy to be proved totally wrong about this too!!

Thought on this:
I read this thread, and Billytrucks post in the General section. I looked up his ads on Ebay, just to see what he is selling. I have never used UE stuff, or purchased anything from either Billytrucks, or UE, and dont intend to. But, I do have some experinence with aluminum, and business and patent "stuff".
Reading between the lines of Billys post, he is stating that "he" has never made parts, thus denying any responsibility for the quality of the parts. But, he did not win any points with me in that he went on with the claims that UE owns no patents on the products, etc. What he stated is in fact correct, but...This leads me to believe that he is aware that he sold parts that were configured like UE's, but were not. This in itself is not a crime, or even wrong. However, if he in fact sold them as UE parts, knowing full well that they were not, that is a crime, and is incredibly wrong.
UE's claim that they are inferior also does not carry much weight with me. Yes, the machining quality is horrid - but that in itself does not mean they are going to break on that first jump. A monkey with a dremel could produce a finish better than those shown in the pictures in this thread (well, not really, but I'm just being dramatic). Also, nothing in the pictures actually proves that they are a cast aluminum. Yes, IMHO, I would guess that they are cast, but I'd need to cut one in half to put any money on it.
I think Billy is going to be in a world of hurt if UE actually has any documentation that he sold those as UE parts. His post here proves to me that he knows they werent. Hate to see people do this kind of stuff.

This may not be exactly "on topic" but I will throw it out there anyway...
If you look at all of Mike's parts, you will notice that he machines "RC-Monster" directly onto the part. Fastlane Machine also marks their products with their name. That makes it a lot easier to prove what they did and did not manufacture. It also provides some protection when/if somebody tries to counterfeit their work...because as someone else has mentioned...misrepresentation is a crime.
If Robin/UE starts making more parts, I hope he marks them. That way if somebody were to make counterfeits with "UE" stamped/machined into them, then it would be impossible to give the " I just didn't know they were fakes" routine...well okay...they might get away with it once.
In all honesty, marking your work just makes good business sense.

Never bought from UE, nor have I owned UE. Never heard of billytrucks until today. Based on what I have seen over 7 years with Robin on multiple forums, he is no saint by far. From a completely anlaytical standpoint on ebay I find this interesting:
Billytrucks has over 2600 feedback with a 99.9% feedback rating.
UE has a 119 feedback with a 94.4% feedback rating.
The only negative feedback left for billytrucks is from a person who has a poor rating himself while the negatives for UE are from people with 100% feedback rating.
That doesn't really stand in UE's favor either. I posted on the UE forum and was promptly banned. Funny Robin also said he didn't believe for a minute I managed a machine shop as part of my job from 03-08. I have a lot of experience with parts/complexity/pricing and know for fact UE's prices were always ridculously high. My shop made parts way more complex that even the VBS bulks.
Please also understand that my machine shop's function was to support a company that made gaskets by supplying parts for machines we used that we deisgned and built in house. My machine shop supervision was a part of my overall duties with the company. In the plant I worked for we had over 75 CNC machines. A 4400 watt laser and a 2600 watt laser, multi axis mills, and around 25 manual lathes and mills. Many of our CNC machines were designed, built, and programmed in house. Here is the website for the company I worked for: http://www.flexitallic.com/
I could care less about billytrucks and if he is selling fake parts then he should be punished appropriately. However, Robin isn't exactly "clean" in my opinion either.
I posted this here because some people on the UE forum post here as well and know who I am.

When I bought from Robin it was always listed on the site in stock, and was exactly as ordered ..bit heavy on the shipping (maybe price too) but knew it when ordered and really couldnt complain as nothing EVER failed.. Billy trucks was selling sometimes used and sometimes new parts.. I thought at 1 time Robin was using him to get rid of some stock as Billy sold the new stuff for the same price, so either had a deal or made no money. Not crying conspiracy here, just saying 9 or 10 of Billys A+++ Sales were from me and A+++ sales from Robin too, Never more than 3 or 4 days till my tearing eyes had the sick stuff in my hands. Hope you all work it out. Dont get pissy and deprive of us of the goods. You da men

I've got a SM, a UE Lightning and Dace Predator in pieces (haven't built it yet). I got duped on these whatever you want to call them setbacks - his ad had a line in about "you know UE and you know its the best" or something like that. His ad was such that you wouldn't have questioned that he was selling UE parts.
My purchase was long enough ago (July) that the ad is no longer available. I wished it were cause I was totally sure I was buying UE setbacks, otherwise I'd never paid $185 for a single pr of arms that I can assure you. The rarity of certain UE items make enable them to command pretty high prices which is what got this fake or counterfeit mess started I believe.
Billy has told me he will take the arms back subject to his return conditions and thats getting started so I don't know how thats going to come out. If I get my money back, for me its over. I'll view Billy in a different light, however, cause minimum, he knew those arms were not UE. I don't care if he made them or caused them to be made, he sold them as UE knowing they were not. Find someone who bought a pr at $185 (BIN) like I did that can still get to the ebay ad and its going to be obvious they were sold as UE.
It would be great if UE would crank out parts again, even if its just set back and high impacts, I'd be there, in line, pre-ordering like a lot of others. I've been on UE forums long enough to know that not everything that gets talked about over there happens though, so we'll have to wait and see. If Robin does make some new pieces, I will send a note of thanks to the ebay bidder who outbid me on a set of real UE set backs (they weren't Billy's) in the last minute. He won a single pr of NIP UE arms with his $345 bid, lol!! I don't know if I could ever run them having paid that kind of cash for them. Course its all relative and depends on what kind of money you make, doesn't it??

I think it was Tuskony who won that $345 NIP setbacks and then sold it to in Ebay to a guy in Florida(ebay ID purereb) 4-5 days ago. Now, purereb is selling it on ebay with a reserve: http://cgi.ebay.com/Unlimited-Engine...3A1%7C294%3A50
Check his feedback to find out where the setbacks came from: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...eedbackAsBuyer
Anyway, like I said over at UE, I'll only believe what Robin has to say after seeing parts being made. He had same the same thing the past 2-3 years and nothing came out of it. Hopefully this fiasco would be enough for him to swallow his pride and re-establish his business dealings with a capable machine shop(if there is still anyone willing to make parts for him) .
