Prob a dumb question, but... does MM2 use the same firmware as the original MM? Same versions from 1.24 to all the betas?

At our RC Drag club we have been noticing that castle firmware has been getting softer and softer. Cars that were running 100+mph over the 132 foot track were all of a sudden running high 90's. That's not just one or two cars either and we always run the latest gen fresh TP batteries on a VHT prepared track. All the new records in Funny Car and Pro Stock have been using Tekins but my 2 year old Australian record in Top Fuel using an original MMax 1 still hasn't been knocked off.

It's the start power,it doesn't seem to let full power flow till the motor is going pretty good. Only thing I can think of is its easier on the controllers.
Patrick said a fix was coming so lets hope it fixes the mmm softie launch.

Brushless ..... I put that s... In everything.

New version of Castle Link 3.55.00 is available on the website with firmware version 1.45 for the Monster and Max Pro. From the firmware revision notes:

1.45 Beta 05/28/13
Monster and Mamba Max Pro:
Significantly increased startup torque and the delay of power from start.

Please try updating your Monsters and Monster 2's to V1.45 and please report back your findings. Thanks!

Thomas

just installed Firmware 1.45 on my MMM (not the V2)

The response of the first 2% of throttle is more like switch
The car does not jump start like on previous version, but still not as good as on the 1.24 MMM Firmware, this version allows "Crawler Like" startups

Setup
Kyosho DRX
MMM
CC 1410 1Y
geared for about 30 mph
Tekno RC Traktion Drive (Slipper Clutch)
Timing "0"
Start Power Low

Here is video with Version 1.45
MMM @ Firmware Version 1.45

Version 1.24

MMM @ Firmware Version 1.24

I pulled the throttle careful just like you would drive out of the pits
On 1.24 is really depends on the position of the rotor how smooth you can start, but still 100% better than anything after this version

Hope that helps
Soory for the poor videos

kind regards

Mirko

I agree 1.24 starts slightly nicer but I'm happy with 1.45

1.24 does start better -- but 1.45 adds a lot of safeties to the startup.

There were some issues with 1.24 and some motors / setups that would allow too much ripple current on the input capacitors. This could lead to damaging the input capacitors.

Thanx!
