so im thinking mamba maxx esc and a 7-8 xl motor ? ok i went and looked and i dont see anything that says 7 or 8xl in the motors section...
also would this work ?

http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...MM_7700&cat=20

on a second note i will be running 12 cells now but would like to run 14 later so i need something that will work with 12 and accept or be even better later with 14. and when i said speed wasnt a huge thing i just wanted to beat my friends rustler it meant i dont wanna have $600-$800 in my setup but i also didnt wanna come on and be like hey i wanna go fast for cheap !!
i was thinking under $300

Personally, I'd choose this motor (choose 7XL or 8XL) along with the heatsink/clamp (select the XL size). MetalMan has his endbell pop off on his Feigao even though it's screwed down, but he said he's having good luck with the JB Weld...

v1d9uy, the 7700 (or any MambaMax combo) uses an "S" size can, which is too small to run an emaxx. BTW: The number (7700) is how many RPMs the shaft turns with 1v. The "S" or "XL" is the length of the motor. A longer motor will have more torque (and lower kv) than a shorter motor of the same wind. Also, the extra length has more mass and surface area to shed heat.

That actually happened to me too, but the only choice of the motors you selected is a 12xl. I'm sure mike could get others too...

I beleive the new Rusty's only do the 35mph with the "speed" pinion and 7 cells. At this point, Traxxas limits you to smooth, flat surfaces only or else the motor will be "damaged" (in non user Manual terms: fried).

The HV will be fine. It will easily out do the Rustler in any terrain.

I also happen to be selling mine, if you wish. Everything is New except the motor itself, and its only had about 15 runs, which was kept under 110* monitored by Telemetry. Drop me a PM if you are interested.

First Post!

I am also looking into converting my e-Maxx over to brushless power. If I went with the Castle Creations Mamba Max ESC and Feigao 540C 7XL on 12 cells, what pinion would I need?

Thanks

Brian

Would the stock pinion be OK?

Thanks

You might try this...

As for my opinion on what to use...The HV Noavak will work fine but why stop there? I mean you know your friend will more than likely run off and upgrade his Rusty truck, so why not go one step higher ;)

If your using the stock 66t spur then the gear ratio would be ok with the 18t pinion...but the stock pinion has a 1/8 bore (3.175mm) and 7xl's have a 5mm shaft. Rc-monster sells 5mm bore 32 pitch pinion gears (which is what you would need to fit your motor and spur), but most people (including me) uprgade to mod1 pitch gears when using brushless, because mod1 gears have bigger teeth and are stronger.
There are some people that use 32 pitch gears in there brushless e-maxxes, but I'm not sure how long the gears last.
Probably worth doing a search to see what you can find out about people using 32p gears in e-maxxes, so you can decide if you want to stay with that or upgrade to mod1. If you go mod1, then the strobe slipper is one of the most popular choices. I've got one with no problems.
You'd need these parts
http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...per-Kit&cat=40 slipper
www.rc-monster.com/proddetail.php?prod=ofn30110 spur
www.rc-monster.com/gears.php 10th item is 5mm bore, mod1 pitch pinion,
5mm bore 32 pitch pinion gears is 8th item if you stay 32p
