Not sure about that charger, I have not tried it. I have a duratrax ice and a mrc 989 and would recommend them both. The ice has the best menus of all of the chargers I have tried, but I purchased the mrc cause I needed a charger capable of charging more than 4s. The mrc is a great deal cuase it comes with a power supply. The ice requires a seperate supply, or using the old car battery, which I prefer not to.

yea that sounds like alot of fun having a controller that wants to over heat lol, i aint gonna like me im sure im a pretty hard basher and racer. ill look into the fan for it and the reciver pack also.

i was also looking at the mrc 977 charger if it will balance the lipo during the charge i will get it instead i wanted it from the begining but the low 5amp output i didnt like, although being able to charge two different packs of any two kinds would be nice, but i would be limited to 3s and down. while the FMA can do up to 6 cells and up to 10 amp output (i know not to charge at more than the pack is rated such as 6amps for a 6000mah)

I use a hyperion balancer that is capable of 6amp charge thru and either the ice or the mrc. I have a cheap polyquest balancer, but it is not as good as the hyperion balancer. That charger you linked to looks good, I like the individual chargeing ability. Give it a try and tell us what you think.

I would SERIOUSLY consider the 989. Its a little more than the other, but WELL worth it. The FMA doesn't have a powersupply, when the 989 comes with one, so that makes up for the vast majority of the difference right there.

how much was the hyperion balancer your using lincpimp? if it isnt too much i might go with the 977 that way i could charge the lipo and one of my minilst2 packs or a recievr pack at the same time. or charge a second lipo if later i get another.

i cant find specs on what they are capable of charing at. i see the lba6 and the lba10 does the name's number imply the rate it which it can charge? such as 6amps for the lba6 and 10 amps for the lba10.

well i messed around and stayed outside to long to bid on this LBA6 balancer i was watching on ebay. only went for $24, bummer. I have a week or so to make up my mind on the charger the built in balancer on the fma charger is nice but its DC only. which will be sort of a hassle considering i do 99% of my charging inside, i could always leave it in my clean building where i build my mx bike engines. I could just keep one of our marine boat batteries in there and charge it once a week. OR if i get the mrc 977 i would beable to charge nimh packs also but id need a good balancer (extra $50) and i would be limited to a 5 amp charge rate and limited to 3s. I have a little 1.2 amp peak charger to charge my mini's batteries and i could use it to charge a nimh reciever pack also. so i dont HAVE to beable to charge nimhs with the new charger.

I think the FMA charger will be nice to have simply because i could charge any kind of pack i could ever put into a truck. It would prolly be safer to keep it in the little clean building rather than our house anyways.

like i said its the last thing im gonna get and maybe my college instructor will let me try his charger out if i get the truck finished and dont have my charger yet.

The FMA is only a Lipo charger I thought? Also, keep in mind theres no digital readout or nothing. Why not the 989? You keep talking about the 977. The 989 is cream of the crop and is a GREAT charger for a really low price.

the 977 can charge two completely different packs at once. thats why i would rather have it, i could charge the reciever pack im going to use and the lipo in the truck at the same time. i might bump down to the 5000mah 3s maxamps, a 1400 reciever pack, the 977 charger and a LBA10 balancer, that should keep all my charging time to an hour if i was out at the track. im sure i can pick up another lipo over the winter if charging at the track becomes a problem.

You should shoot a PM to Tmaxxracer. About a month back, he was selling his Hyperion 12XXX....(the good one) and balancer. He may have changed his mind since, but it never hurts to ask.

well im NOT getting the 977 thats for sure it will only charge at 2.5 amps in its lipo mode (the 5amp rate is only in nimh/nicad mode) and .5C charge rate is way to slow for me. so i guess ill keep looking, JT do you have an exact username for me to search and pm? I can check into that charger and ill keep looking.

well if the Ice is a possibility, i have one i'm about to put up for sale. i added a custom backlight, and it has other goodies too. it'll charge lipo at 1C, up to 8 amps.

PM for details if you're interested.

well, what are the ratios for this truck (diffs and the center is a 54 tooth spur right) im trying to figure out my pinion gears to order im thinking a 12 or 13 and then a 14 or 15 for my other, ill prolly grab a set of masher2ks later on for bashing. i guess i need the exact specs on the motor too. just dont wanna buy the wrong pinions since they are 12 bucks a piece.
