I'll bet you've forgotten what bass sounds like after listening to the Vaio speakers for so long!

I have the logitech z-4, for 4 years they are nice looking and great bass, I had the cops come twice for them, don't play "baby got back when drunk" 5-0 was there in 20 minutes.. They are at Target for $83 today, I bought pair about $129 4 yrs ago at circuit city, no wonder they went out of business.

I never cared for bass all that much before, but if you have the right setup, oh man does it add an experience - to both music and movies. I just found that out a few months ago.

Bass ads that visceral response that can't be explained. Some people tend to go a little overboard sometimes - like those kids running deck power for their mids/highs in their car, and 2000w on 4x 18" subs for the bass.

I find that whatever power you have for the mids/highs combined, X2, is the amount I like for the bass. So, if I have 100w rms X 2 for the main speakers, I like at least 400w for the sub(s). And I prefer a ported box tuned perfectly.

Brian the setup i bought has 5w for each of the Satellite speakers & 15w for the sub . That should be plenty for watching youtbue & other site's like that . .

Seems like Brian has gone into car territory. Personally I think car audio is completely different from computer/home theater audio.

Cars typically don't need all that much power due to the confined space... My Bose system in my Infiniti is only rated to something like 280watts last I checked but god can it put out some serious levels of sound. Bass isn't quite what I would like it to be (doesn't do all that well on the super low frequencies as there isn't any real sub but rather a pair of 8" 'subs' on the rear deck).

The Logitech Z-5500 I have in my room that I use for my computer and PS3 (for both games and movies) so it's computer speakers and mini home theater is absolutely mind blowing. Half volume when playing songs out of my PS3 (slim, btw, which IS able to output bitstream DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD) and I can't even stand in my room it's so loud, but audio clarity is still perfect so if I stand downstairs it sounds great.

I think i will be satisfied with the system i bought for myself, judging by all the reveiws i read on newegg .

Yeah, I was just saying about the vast difference between home/computer speakers and car audio.

Even though I have such great setups at home, I use my built-in speakers on my laptop while at school. Having good stuff is great but sometimes "what works" is good enough for me. I have Bose Headphones if feel I need good audio - but those only go on my ears when I play CounterStrike.

The speakers im giving as a gift showed up today . So of course i had to try them out . I must say i was surprised at how much of a difference a little low end makes in the over all sound . They sound pretty good considering they cost under $30 delivered . I would be satisfied to keep these for my self . I would give them a 7 or 8 out of 10 .

Yeah the sub will really make a difference. Larger speakers can only do so much.
