Yeah... the weight balance is a big issue.
The battery has to be double stacked compared to the Kyosho... so it looks really tall. But the motor will be on the chassis.....
The layout in the pic actually feels pretty well balanced.
The battery will have to sit just a little on the side skirt because the chassis is so narrow there, but most of it will be over the aluminum, and the straps, etc to hold it will be bolted to the chassis not the skirts.
I'll probably have to put a cusion of some sort under the battery to raise a bit... maybe could do the graphite thing like you mentioned.

Check out these Eight parts vs. XX$ parts. This is hilarious..... :005:
And here's another possible layout, with shorter cells (about the like fouror five nickel cells) which would allow it to tuck in behind the center diff.
No... no 5s cutoff... yet. :)

No... no 5s for me.... but I have been curious. :)
Battery probably will be 4s 6000 or 8000

Nothing beats a fresh boiled a-arm..
Here is what i wanted to do with my new lightning; Flip the centerdiff, use the motor in the front of the car and put the batteries on the opposite side of the center drivetrain on the rear.

I did my truggy that way... motor in the front left and batteries behind the center diff on each side of the driveshaft... good layout and works with about any battery setup
