I'll wait for the RX8 to come out.

i couldn't agree more, although i am quite happy with my MM (have a 2nd one coming any day now - the new one).
i do love tekin though, and i'll most likely wait for theirs. i have an olllllllld Tekin Titan that i used in my Clod crawler, and it works flawlessly (brushed, of course ). i would guess the Titan is about 10 years old now. i also used a Tekin Rebel with zero problems.
edit: wait... didn't get through all the posts. $300 for a MMM/neu combo? holy crap batman. if that ends up being true....sorry tekin...

I just got VERY reliable information, that the motor that will come with the MMM combo will not be produced by STEVE NEU motors. The motor that will come with the combo will be patterend after the 1515-1y but will not be a true NEU MOTOR . It will be a copy made another company, & not NEU MOTORS.

$300.... sold!
Now CC have laid their cards on the table (more or less), and Tekin are close behind, I want to hear more from Traxxas & Novak.

if they can keep that price with a NEU motor, they got a royal straight flush. Traxxas couldn't compete with a 200.00 price tag and Tekin is a racer based company, I see the esc being 300.00

Wow!!! That's frikkin' phenomenal...those are some great specs. 175A constant should be more than enough, and 6S LiPo is great. I've been waiting so long to hear those specs. The price is just downright insane though. I'm with CrazyJR... at $300 for the whole combo, there just ain't gonna be any competition that I can see. Sold! :)

Yep, if the price stays they've definitely hit a home run. Good job castle!

Although, I was hoping for something a bit closer to 8s just for a little extra voltage headroom...

Well you have to remember, this is a 6S *official* rating...so it'll run solid as a rock on that voltage. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it can pull off 7S, perhaps even 8 knowing Castle controllers.

what motors do the current mamba max combos come with?
just curious...
i can't wait to try this thing out. think it's better than the quark 125B? that's what i have, and seems to be the defacto 'budget' ESC. might get the combo for my revo when the time comes...
nothing in the garage right now... another revo on the way, prolly

I'll believe it as soon as someone has one in their hands. CC hasnt ever met a date as far as I know. Also these are all "unoficial" dates. If they publish a date on their website It might start to get some more credibility.
If its out by spring we will be lucky IMO.
That said... Specs and Price sound like brushless nirvana! I keep my fingers cautiously crossed at this point. They have a long way to go before anything they say starts to be credible in my eyes. Not to mention... they didnt say any of this, its all just information that someone else said that they said.
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Well the price sounds good, I am sure that it will have to be closer to 350 once it hits the shelf. Cost to the dealer is around 100 for the mm so the mmm will probably be at or over 150. This is just for the esc. With the motors the mm combo is about 175 dealer cost. Add in the fact that the mmm is coming this a neu motor?! and that the mm motor is some sort of feigao derivative(hacker clone) price should be between 300 and 350. Keep in mind that neu motors are costly due to lower production requirements, due to lower overall demand. Couple this MMM system coming out close to the new Emaxx release and it could be a potention sales success. I am sure that castle has worked a deal with neu on a bulk purchase, or at least continued quantity purchases to keep the price down. Coupled with the 150 or so cost for the esc, motor costs would be around 125 to 150. Adding in markup puts it around the 300 to 350 mark.
I also wonder is CC will sell the MMM motors seperately? I realy can't see them doing this, around 150 to 175 for a neu motor? That would cut into neu's sales quite a bit!
The arrival of the CC MMM would hopefully spur the mfgs to make some dedicated 1/8 scale electric rcs, or conversion kits at least. And hopefully a larger, or multi cell version of a trakpower or similar cased lipo will also be offered. This would ensure that the "unwashed masses" could put a decent electric system together at the LHS without needing special parts or fabrication. It would most likely not compare to scratch built sytems, but it is certainly a start, and will lower prices on all of the related components too!

Also read just now that CC have licensed the design of the motor from neu. So it looks like some chineses company will be pumping out neu clones?!
Hope that they can produce a similar quality motor. I guess that will allow the price to stay around the 300 dollar mark. I am sure that the motor will be better than a feigao xl, which is good cause I have had decent success with the feigao motors and have not wanted to pay 3-4 times more for a neu or lehner. I know that they are better, but some sort of in-between motor would be nice and CC may provide this soon.
CC always seem to put out a high quality product, the delays in testing are justified by this. They may be over-ambitious with their marketing, but we all know that they are coming out with something new, and have been waiting for a while! At least they have good new product awareness!
We all have beaten up on the poor MM with all kinds of motor and vehicle combo that are a little past its design specs! I actually have a MM from their first run, bought it about 2 weeks after it was relaesed. It has been in my xxx-cr the entire time and has never given me any trouble at all. So imagine how good the MMM will be when it is designed to be used in 1/8 scale!

There is talk of them eventually being bundled with Neu-made motors. Although, to keep the price down, I wonder if they will offer only the non-finned versions.
This should definitely be better than the Quark IF it runs as smooth as the Quark. The MM is certainly nice for the money, but is not as smooth the Quark is. Remember, the Quark is not meant for 1/10 MT or 1/8 buggies. It really is in the same class as the MM power-wise. Both ESCs even use the same number of FETs.
