I use 995's on my TXT-1 crawler with locked diffs and all...no problems controlling the 4WS either.

Got sort of an update here. LOL
I decided to order the AXI 2826/8 turn for this.
The wide ratio, and the close ratio gear sets are coming for this. Also got the shift fork and the output gears for the tranny.
I didn't order the mini shift servo since I already have a mini servo from a Revo.
It's funny. Tower doesn't offer the shift "kit" yet, but they have all the parts to put one together.

Oh yeah, on the stripped Servo gear issue.
Traxxas is sending me new gears and a new servo saver.
I'm pretty pleased with that.
I got impatient though and order a pair of the MG995 Metal Gear servos for it. I think they will hold up better to the abuse I plan on putting this through. LOL

Those servos seem to be a good deal. Wonder how well they work?

Well I don't know, but I've heard alot of good things about them.
They say they are high torque, high speed and I would only need one. I'm gonna install them both of course. LOL
Here's the "deal" I found. It's not bad at all IMO. USA seller too.
Getcha some!

Take a look Pimp and let me know what you think. I don't know how servos compare.

I've run them before and had a pretty bad experience. The ones I got got were also given the part number MG995 with similar specs, though mine were also toted as being digital coreless. Needless to say they werent digital or coreless, and I'd read on other forums people had measured the torque and it was nowhere near what was claimed.
That wouldn't really bother me because the torque was more than ample for my nitro evader steering, but the ones I got were increadibly glitchy and couldnt hold their position even at rest. Maybe I got a dodgy couple but it made me steer clear of them anyway...
All that said, I've read more good reports than bad, and I hope your experience is one of the good ones! For $25 though I guess there's not much harm in trying! :P

I can only imagine that at 7.2v (the max operating voltage according to the spec) they must produce some serious speed and power (and heat?).
I have run futaba 3050 servos at 6.5v and they do not even get hot, the performace is very good too.
I will have to try out a pair of these servos and see how they do. I need a few more steering servos for my buggy builds!

Hey Sikes great go on teh gears for the damaged servo gears. We expected at least that much for the problems you had. Of course now you know they will not hold up in your rig with that motor. As far as the MG995's I have not tried them either, but like stated earlier for $22 what have you got to lose. We do hope that you have better luck with the diff gears setup the other way. It would be nice if you could get this thing set up in a configuration that will allow you constant use without failures. Good luck with the changes and keep up the good work.

I run the MG995's on all my traxxas trucks and TXT-1. Best servo for the money....and with 170 oz tq, its hard to beat.

170 oz's of torque?
Aren't the stock 2055's and 2056's only rated at 80oz?

Wow! Great!
One of these should be stronger than both of the stock ones. By using two of them at 6v, turning fully from stop to stop at a standing still should be no problem at all.

Yup, I even tried the upgrade from Traxxas the 2070's and they are no match for a TXT-1. Swapped to these and they will move the truck if its up against something...hehe

On the point of servos, I bought a couple of these a little while back, supposedly rebadged MG995s, as an upgrade to my HS645Mgs. My god, never have I seen such poor quality servos- only about 30* of throw in either direction, and they wouldnt hold center/neutral without constantly buzzing, and thats without bolting them into the Gmaxx. Hopefully though you will get genuine MG995s and not some rebadged junk like I did (which I ended up reselling for a small profit, thankfully).

I see some subtle differences in the casing designs when comparing the two. So I hope these will be better than your experience.
I'll find out soon and post the results.
