well, I dont seem to find the information of that motor (yet...)
It seems the ESC will be on sale by the end of this month/year, but I dont see a combo package (not even on towerhobbies) or a seperate offer for the motor.

Lol 12.4 cm, good guessing :)

I was wondering if you had any youtube films of a Savage Flux with your kit? :)

also wondering, a battery like this for instance would not fit in the battery compartment of the kit? http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...C65007S&cat=18
since the battery dimensions are 160L x 74W x 55H

lol final edit :
But I think this is the only of the Hyperion VX lipo's that will fit, namely 2 of these placed on their side in the kit's battery compartement:
G3-VX4200-5S Length 136.3 x Width 42.8 x Height 36.5 I got the dimensions from here: http://www.rclipos.com/Hyperion_G3_VX.htm

And when you place 2 of these in series, and on their side next to each other (so not on each other) you get 8s with a capacity of 8400 mah and dimensions will be:
same Length: 136.3, Width becomes the previous Height x2 : 73, Heigth becomes previous Width: 42.8

So, with a little adjustment I think for a + 100mm motor you can have a really nice 8s set up already :)

In my opinion, this motor will be overkill for a savage FLUX. I think that 1520 or 1717 will be much better.

And if you look at this picture you will see how far out will the motor be with 25 pinion.

That battery won't fit.

Orange area: 157x22x74mm
Green area: 167x32x74mm

edited previous post...;)

I assume with you measurments 157 x 74 x 55
you mean 157 Length x 74 Width x 55 Height ?

if so, than my findings in my edited post above should prove out that the battery set up will fit and that would be awsome

If you decide that you will only use standard size servo and forget
the option for jumbo servo, the battery tray can grow 12mm in lenght.

But you will loose option for jumbo conversion then. The holes for it
will stay on TVP's, but you will get shorter servo plate.

Hmm pictures does not show how much it sticks out...

But if you use a 8s set up with a XL ESC, isn't a 1520 or 1717 motor underpowered?

When you have a full 1/5 set up and only the motor is not really 1/5 like the rest I assume that motor wont last long :)

Just wondering that it might be interesting if you could fit +100mm length motors in the kit.

No - A baja will weigh close to 30lbs - this is half that - a 1717 on 6s with a MMM is the way to go...

aha so you mean when the battery compartment is completely used, there are issues on to wich kind of servo's to use? hmmm

I have been calculating and if one was to buy a
- Flux
- your kit (130 euro)
- those 2 batteries
- the Castle combo
The total price would be around 1470 euro.
That is without reinforced parts, so everything still stock from the HPI Savage Flux...

But if one was to buy a Baja and did the conversion with the kit sold here on RC Monsters with the Castle combo and only 1 battery of 7s the cost would be 1707 euro's...

But I assume the baja itself is already heavy duty proof so you wouldnt have to invest in extra reinforced parts...
And there seem limitations in Flux conversions if you wanna use big batteries...although I dont know yet what kind of batteries can be put in a converted Baja.
Maybe Arct1k can help me out with this, what are the dimensions left for batteries in this converted beast? :)

So maybe after all a Baja conversion is more interesting? even though its like 230-240 euro more expensive.

ow I see, than I have 2 questions left:

1.
so in your opinion everything above 6s, (like what I was aiming for: the upcoming XL kit designed for the Baja in combination with 8s) that would be overkill for a converted savage flux?

2.
what would win: 6s MMM with 1717 or a converted Baja with the XL combo on lets say 8s.

smaller question
3. a baja on 8s or a baja on 10s, would it give much of a difference with the XL combo?
If so, it would affect the answer on question 2 I assume :)

This is still 1/8 truck, it is just scaled to 1/5. So not much weight added.

Things for remove
Dogbones 26g
Battery boxes 252g
Radio box 121g
TVP's 179g
----------------
removed: 578g

5mm TVP's 867g (3mm tvps 505g)
battery plate 78g
servo plate 48g
6x brace 72g
dogbones 135g
---------------
added: 1200g (838g with 3mm tvp's)

That gives us 622g added to standard flux weight, with 3mm tvp's only 260g added.

TVP's and plates (lipo/servo) are 7075 aluminium.

Here is another picture, so you can see how much the 1/5 motor sticks out of TVP.

so we have the option to chose the thickness of the TVP :-)

+ I dont know if this 6s lipo would fit your battery case: http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...C55006S&cat=18
edit: 165 x 47.5 x 62 mm, lol so this works if it is placed on its side.

So can the jumbo servo option be used with that 165 mm in length?
it would not require modding anything only you would have to place the battery slightly diagonal I assume...
