just wanted to see if you had any updates. I am thinking about picking one of these up. currently I have started a hyper 8 conversion and am basically just waiting for the motor mount to show up. I have a dremeled up emaxx one now just to test it out down the street. Anyways my brother drove it today and loved it so I think I might sell him my hyper and just go to the losi.

anything else that I need to know other then flipping the diff and needing to make a motor mount? also do you know if the kyosho plastic spurs fit the losi diff?

thanks

No critical updates.... I got the chance to run it a couple times on the track (don't plan to bash with it much). It runs very nice, jumps well etc... like most other 8ight owners, I think the car is very good.

I ran it with the 1515 and the 1512, at different tracks. You should have seen the reactions when I ran it as an exibition at an indoor trophy race.... the first time I punched it down the straight like 20 guys all said "holy s%#@!"

1/10 4wd cars are lightning quick, but it's just scary when you see such a big vehicle move just as fast...

hee hee hee

The key things in converting an 8ight is gettting the battery to fit under the body. It's a tight squeeze but I got mine to fit almost perfect. The body hugs the battery on one side and almost touches the motor on the other. I did some trimming to the plastic side guards to allow the battery to sit as low as possible and also trimmed under the motor so the motor can slide out all the way without loosening the motor/diff mount. Also you have to grind out a new slot in the chassis for the center gear when you flip the diff. That's about it.

I guess I need to get some pics of the finished product huh?

Yes.. Kyosho gears fit the Losi diff just fine. :D

Oh... let me take a shot at Fine Design here in my own thread, since this 8ight conversion layout is kinda like a FD "conversion". FD sucks! :D

Anyone reading this that is thinking of throwing money at Chris.... just think twice that's all. No offense to those who already have a FD car.

It just pisses me off (sorta ;) ) how often someone first sees my car at the races and asks if it's from that company they saw in the magazine.....

NO!!!! That jerkoff is not taking credit for my car.... :mad:1

Everyone think's it's pretty sweet that my cars are "homemade".

Very nice! What was your opinions between the two Neus? Was the 1512 powerful enough, or is teh 1515 the only way to go?

In case I missed it, what kv's were you running?

1512 has plenty imo.

But the 1515 ran great too and it should run even cooler...

just picked up a rtr 8ight and started ripping it apart. I will be doing it the same style as yours but running a 8xl motor. I already have a 4s 8000mah truerc pack so I hope I can fit it under the body when I am all done. Planning on sending the diff out to mike tomorrow to make a motor mount. If all goes well I should have a new brushless 8ight in about 2 weeks.
