I have seen a couple bent in a crash, nothing a vise and some bending wouldnt fix though.

You should never ever get a "bad batch" of metal. Its nearly impossible to buy metals without certification, and I doubt the do this. So either its a bad batch and you can simply sue the metal manufacture for false certification and easily win.....or you crashed the truck. Doesnt matter if you think it was a bad crash, it was obviously bad enough to bend parts. Parts bend when they are pushed beyond the limits and thats it. If you dont think it should have bent, then the part wasnt properly engineered for your application.

I was driving around and a tree jumped in front me. I was cruising along nicely.
I think 18 cells on it at time to. So alot of weight helped. As you can see
the straps didn't hold either. They didn't break though.

Trees seem faster at times than others. :D
It was one of them last minute jump out in front to. :D

haha man those trees are fast up here they are quite a bit slower on the jumping in front of you part but i bet they will get better at it when i get a faster car(comming soon). hehe

kids man if you hit one of those it is not like a tree where the tree wins and you carry your car back to your house to acess the damage, if you hit a kid you damage the kid, get nasty looks from the neighbors, damage your car, feel bad, and many more things i will take hitting a tree anyday over a kid.
