I don't know where you are getting pressure angle info from?? All I can tell you is that the 24t and 25t came from Mike and the gears mesh perfectly between them. I normally used a Revo 36t for a spur gear and it is the same mesh.

A mod1 is a mod1 is a mod1.........

I assume those are the same gears are from sdp.si.com for about $8 each.Alsothe same ones KD uses and sells for ~$10. The only plastic or metal gears they sell are 20* pressure angle. Mod 1 has 3 different pressure angles and they are not supposed to be used with each other, At least thats what this link says. Not my info I am just relaying it. read it for yourself. http://shopswarf.orconhosting.net.nz/spur.html
" Three spur gear tooth forms are generally used with pressure angles of 14½, 20, and 25 degrees. The 14½ degree tooth form is being replaced and made obsolete by the 20 and 25 degree forms. Figure 1. illustrates these three pressure angles as applied to a gear rack with all teeth being the same depth.
The larger pressure angle makes teeth with a much larger base, which makes these teeth much stronger
and also allows the production of gears with fewer teeth. Any two gears in mesh with each other must be
of the same pressure angle.
When gear tooth measurements are to be made with gear tooth calipers, the chordal tooth thickness and
the chordal addendum must be calculated."
The revo is 14.5 * and your gears are 20* They may fit each other because the revo gear has smaller teeth but it isnt exactly right like it should be. So a mod 1 is not a mod1 is not a mod 1. Sorry but these are the facts.

I actually got hit twice!!! When he made the comment about $8, I checked the site again to see that I paid about $16 a gear when I ordered them a while back and now they are $8!!!!

This is shaping up to be a great week!!

Interesting info!! I don't know what to say.......First, I don't know where you found the Revo spur info as I can not find it anywhere!! Second and most importantly I think, I don't think anyone here has ever had a problem mixing different brands of gears with each other. I say that because I am sure that different brands have different manufacturers producing gears and these discrepencies may exist between brands. So in short, I think you are looking into it too deeply. I can see this as a possible problem in a precision mechanism.....but a pinion/spur combo??? What I can say is there are bigger problems to worry about with a high speed car build than this! Good luck with the build!!

I never said anything about mixing different brands of gears with each other either, I just posted a write up that says your not supposed to mix gears with different pressure angles with each other.

If you read the write up I posted ther are only 3 types of mod 1 gears 14.5* 20* and 25*. If one manufacturer makes a mod 1 20* gear it should match perfect to the other manufacturer 20 degrees mod 1 gear. 20 degrees is 20 degrees its a universal measurement I believe and there is no metric or foreign equivelent form of measurment for degrees .There should be no descrepencies between 2 20* mod 1 gears at all made by different manufacturers period. If there is, then one manufacturer is making them wrong. Yes it is just a spur and pinion the 2 peices that mesh together and all the power goes through. I may be looking into it too deep but thats just me I refuse to 1/2 ass something together and hope it works. If you still want to argue about the different pressure angles of gears dont look at me its not my rules. I am sure some dumb ass engineer with a phd thought of it just to screw with us and make things difficult . The biggest problem I had was tires and I now have that solved. My first goal is to break the current isc record of ~70 mph. Second goal is to break 100mph so well see.

You guys suck!!

I was trying so hard to just enjoy some bashing with my new 8ight-T's but now I'm getting sucked back into speed runs again. I have the makings of a 100+mph Truggy that's going to get a run soon...waiting for my new 6S 6500 G3 to arrive, then it's 44/25, buggy diff, 1515 1.5d madness...

I'll be relying on the tyre/string method though. I have ballooning down to 0.1"...let's hope the string doesn't break!!!

hehe...once you get bit by the speed bug, it's hard to stop. i got 2 buggies that'll do over 100 now. i'm done. i'll put it on my photobucket account as soon as i get my garmin back.

i can't even run it out in front of my house anymore....it's too fast, and too many idiot parents aren't watching their little kids and let run out in the middle of the street.. the local high school is the only place i can really let it rip. that's why i'm glad i have an 8T. i can go out in my back field and rip it like an e-maxx with some mashers.

Not trying to get anyone. I just want the facts just like everybody else here. Whats funny if you read the link they say they are going to phase out those 14.5* pressure angle and traxxas is still making them for the revo.So are they behind the times or what.

Yeah, no one is trying to one up anybody. I just have been wanting to use that pic, and it felt right

No pissing match here! I was just explaining myself after your comment. It really is simple especially if its done right. Congradulations on going over 100mph. May I ask what you didit with? I know for a fact that doing it with a ~10# monster truck is going to be a challenge. But hey! I like a challenge, anybody can make a on road car do a 100mph.

I went overkill with a 10S setup on a 8T......It was fun getting there, but when I did I was like now what?? I think alot of guys agree that it is more fun during the building and experimenting process than when everything is done and all you do is turn on the car and know what it is going to do! I think that is why I have lost interest in the hobby!!! Time to move on to something for me!
