thats what I figured too. Didn't want to correct the owner in his own thread. also the kv is off a little compared to what neu has on there site. they have 1700kv 2.5d and 1500kv for the 1.5y

anyways here is a link to patricks responses. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...=683583&page=6

A feigao is not even close to a hacker. A hacker is almost as good in efficiency as a Lehner IMO. The can constuction just isnt quite as good.

The MMM (Neu imports) cant be as good as the Real Neu motors or it will put Neu out of business. They will probably be machine wound versions of the Neu hand wound motors to cut the cost down.

It couldn't be real that a Neu and MMM ESC would sell for $300. The price was just too good to beleive.

I am very curious though as to how these new "copied" motors will compare...

Judging by the temps that Patrick posted, I reckon they'll be close to a genuine Neu in terms of efficiency. 172F is a pretty good temp after 15-20 mins of current spikes, and the maximum temps allowed are pretty high. If they're exactly the same design, then they'll probably be machine-wound like you say, JHautz.
Plus, I don't think Steve Neu would want poor-quality copies of his motors to be made, now that people know they'll be his design. They won't be as good as the genuine article obviously, but not too far off...and a lot better than a Feigao hopefully.

My bet is those temps were generated with a real Neu, not one of the new Neu motors... or is it Neu new? no, new Neu... I'm so confused.

If they are licensing the rights from Neu or working with them to copy their design... I think they can make a very good product. They won't put Neu out of biz... I'm sure the agreement would not be allow the mfg. to sell the motors through other sources besides Castle.

As for the Hackers... they are a higher quality, better made product than the Chinese knock-offs, but they are not on par with Neu or Lehner in efficiency and performance. I don't think they are much different than a Feigao in terms of performance, based on a lot of discussion a few years ago when Hacker was the dominant brand and Feigao first hit the scene.

I dont want to argue about the Hacker/Feigao thing, but I have a Hacker 9xl and Feigao 9XL and in the same truck with the same setup the hacker runs way cooler. The feigao cant even touch the hacker.

If the MMM motors are just as good a the Neu it could severly damage Neus business. Why wouldn't everyone just buy the MMM motor and toss them in thier airplane, boats, helis and anything else they might use the Neu for? I know that Neu will get some $ for each motor sold, but not as much as if it were one of thiers.

I certainly woulnt expect the MMM motor to be a poor as a Feigao. If it is then why wouldnt they just put a feigao in the package and save the royalty money they are paying Neu. It will likly be a very good motor.

The helicopter and plane guys won't stop buying from Neu when CC has a handful of "knock-off" winds available. Neu is a heli/plane company.

The car market is new to Neu. :) They will do just fine if they never sell another motor to a car guy.
