it was 220 for either the 25c or 30c 5s 5000mah packs
oh ok, ive now decided to go with 30C 4500mah Polyquest packs (if you didnt see my other thread in the brushless section) because of the $70+ i'll save for not much difference in performance.

I've also tried to get in contact with Neu through CC where i ordered my motor, but havent recieved any replies. I'm really annoyed with Neu's customer service as they've already charged my credit card but arent updating me on my motor. Also coming up on 7 weeks now, and the lead time is supposed to be 2-4 weeks, and heavent heard anything from Neu

I'll post updates when i can, but i really need this motor

thanks alot

Seems like Neu need to employ more people/ expand their business & output, given the explosion in BL popularity.

Hi everyone,

A quick update nothing major, still not heard anything about the motor I managed to fashion a top plate for the centre differential unit out of the carbon fibre i have today, and i think it looks ok (a little rough around the edges). Hopefully it'll provide enough clearance when its all fully together.

Also put a Gorillamaxx sticker on the back of the wing which i think looks pretty funky, also thought id just throw in a full picture of the truck with the different headlights and vinyl'd wing.

thanks for looking, as i said, no major progress has really been made, just bits here and there. I'll keep you guys posted when the motor gets in!!

I have read other posts here in RCM where people have stated that if you are going to order a NEU motor to make sure that you order it through MIKE because he has a repour and reputation with them that makes the ordeal a little less painful. That way you are only dealing with him and not the manufacturer. Just sharing the info.

True, i wish i had now given Mike's top notch customer service. But due to the motor being fairly 'one of a kind' i think Mike would have had to special order it from Neu anyway, so id still be waiting

But at least id definately get a reply to my emails from Mike, he's definately got the best service around!!

Yea sometimes things just do not go the way we would like, but where there is a will there is a way. We all know it will work out in the end. Your project really turned out beautiful. I am sure that you are quite proud and there is an awsome feeling of satisfaction when everything comes together. I never did the Gmaxx version. The carbon fiber stuff looks really cool, but as TDC found out it has a weaker quality that only metal can cure. After reading through your thread I cannot wait to get my lightning Supermaxx completed and post it up here as well. I was just thinking that I will have to post a thread with all four of my Maxx's so I can finally share them with everyone. It has been a long but fun road getting to this point and I will soon have all four of them up and running (by Xmas hopefully). Great job on this build Jordan. I am very much looking forward to seeing this Neu 1527 motor of yours. I have the Big Max motor and I want to see how it compares. I may have to get a similar Neu for one of these beasts of mine. I just ordered two more monoblocks from UE for two of them. I to like the idea of having the built in fan on the motor. From other posts I have read the power of the 1527 is just rediculous for the Maxx trucks, but who knows? I guess you will find out first hand and then we can learn from your experience. Thanks for the thread Jordan, it has been great reading about your project. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing it with all of us.

thanks for the kind words Shaun!! Yep, you heard right 1527/1D (2300kv) should run NICE on 6s.

Last night i sent a half angry e-mail to Neu how they had already charged my card and weren't updating me with progress and not replying to my emails blah blah blah..., and what do you know, i had a reply first thing this morning waiting in my inbox. Said they had a meeting yesterday about old orders and mine should ship by the end of the week hmmm... they took this long with no reply, and now can have it done in a couple of days...

anyway, more updates to come when i get the motor

I'm totally looking forward to your next post Jordan.. I've never seen a motor that big!!..

Question for you Sir, why only 6s?? Why not two 5s in series totaling 10s?? I'm assuming it's the ESC holding you back??

Again / regardless thanks for the great update and I'm stocked for you that Neu finally returned your email..

Have a great one and thanks for your time..

Shaun.

hi shaun,

i pretty much chose the motor knowing i would be running on 6s, hence the 2300kv. Thats roughly 51k rpms, which is getting closer to the 60k limit Neu puts on their motors, but still leaves a nice margin under it. Now 10s, that would be insane, 85k rpms , i think the motor would fry after a little while. If i was planning on running more voltage i would have got a little lower kv motor.

Probably the most limiting factor apart from the ESC would be cost, don't really have an extra $500 to spend on lipos... oh yeah, not to mention all the replacement parts i would have to buy, tires, diffs, drive shafts, spurs, pinions... I'm broke as it is!!!

Really??? - 05.30.2008, 04:25 AM

Ahh come on Jordan we are never broke. We are only waiting for our next check or windfall for purchasing the new items on our never ending R/C list. It is just like looking at a new car like the Dodge Viper knowing how badly we would love to dirve it to and from work every day. Except that with R/C the cost can be broken up in little hits from week to week and eventually acqiring whatever it is we hope to build, and finally completing the project. BROKE?? NEVER!!!!
