Rough. - 05.21.2008, 03:10 AM

Considering how rough you are with your driving, you know your going to brake it again. It is a very cool truck for sure, but that carbon fiber won't last long. No pun intended but after seeing your last wreck results you need the strength of metal in your builds. I try to think about "what if" they began to put carbon fiber chassis parts in our full size cars to replace the steel ones? Would you trust driving it? as MC Hammer said, plastic toys were made for boys. You obviously like to push your vehicles beyond their normal limits so you need armor of some kind.

PS: no worse then the rest of us. I have stands in my R/C shop, but always catch myself holding the trucks in my lap to work on them anyway.

Hay Jerry!!
Always a pleasure to hear from you!! Thanks for the laugh.. But I'm sticking with CF for now.. I still think its all drivers era! (dddooooo) not the truck.. Love your comments though...

(For what it worth) I'll be beating it this weekend at my parents house, they have 110 acres in Nor-Cal (Sonoma) so I’m looking forward to driving it the same places I rode dirt bikes and horses century’s ago..

Have a great one Sir; it’s a pleasure to hear from YOU!!!

Shaun.

P.S.
Are the wife and kids back yet? Did they have a good time in So-Cal?? The weather been awesome lately I went scuba diving all last weekend it was 87 @ the beach and water was temp was 67.. (hot for So-cal)..

Nothing!.. Hahahahaaa..

No harm no foul Shaun. i love that truck and it looks awsome. You did a great job with your selection and construction on that project. I just hate to see guys going in one direction over and over again only to find out that there is one solution that will last a long time. I have seen some guys post up in here that don't want to spend the high dollar amounts to go metal in their chassis, but end up purchasing plastics or carbon fiber over and over again, only to end up spedning a lot more then the metal stuff would have cost just one time. I know I know, we are all entitled to go whatever way that suits our own taste, but I just love pushing the aluminum, steel, and titanium for strength. I was just talking with Hickoryhead the other day about building stuff that will be here long after I am gone, because of the materials and building techniques that I have developed over the years. I hate seeing stuff that only lasts a short time and then into the trash can it goes. Good luck with your bashing this weekend. We have a house in San Francisco. It is nice up that way, but way too expensive compaired to what you can get other places. We will be there in July.

I hear you Sir ( i really do) and I do appreciate the words of wisdom!! but I’m just stubborn at my age (40) Hhaaa yes: (just a pup) : I've spent the money and now I just need to learn how to drive it!! ( I think) hhhaaaa..

As always thanks for the comments / advise!! if it breaks again I'll start to think otherwise.. (trust me) As much fun as it building these beast, it's no fun when there down.. So I'm already thinking / preparing myself for the worst.. We'll see..

Have a great one Jerry!! I’m glad to hear everything went well with the family..

Shaun..

Wow!!! - 05.21.2008, 04:26 AM

You know Shaun with the level of enthusiasam that you show in here I honestly thought you were much younger. Enjoy your 40's while they last. I will turn 50 in Feb and it is amazing how much we actually begin to change through our 40's. Still knock off that SIR crap. I only have 9 years on you. I am sure that I still have a lot left in me but the reality of aging is really starting to haunt me. My father-in-law is 96 and he still goes out nearly every day and commutes around San Francisco going about his business. I sure hope that I have that kind of spunk in me when I am in my 90's.

I am still wating on a bunch of parts comming in this week so I can continue working on my projects. I have to admit I am still a little intimidated with the electronics stuff. I have purchased some really good ESC's over the last month for really good prices, but I have not even begun to understand the programming aspect of each one. At this rate I don't think I wil have enough time to really get involved before we leave here 01/July. We pack out of here in a few weeks. So I guess it will all have to wait until we arrive in Korea in August. Anyway have a good time playing with your truck this weekend. I do look forward to hearing how it goes for you.

Hell No - 05.21.2008, 05:05 AM

Oh hell no. No blue pills here. I am turning 50 not 80. I just meant that I used to play basketball and go running all the time, but now I am happy just sitting in my easy chair or playing in the R/C room. My muscle tone is showing signs of weakening and I just connot do what I used to do. And yea I know what you mean about the Sir thing. As a retired Navy man I used Sir a lot also, and sometimes just to piss people off. My parents really pushed the Sir Ma'am thing on us growing up. My boss right now is also retired, but Army. Same rank and all, but I call him Sir every day just because he is my boss, and It pisses him off to no end, but I just keep hitting him with it. It does not really bother me, but there is no need for it in here, although I am sure it is easier than writing up everyones name or internet signature. Where are you located? Aren't you in Cali, and why are you up at this hour? It is 11AM here in Brussels so I know it is like 0230hrs in California.
