02.10.2008, 02:03 AM
What body will work for the savy? The stock ss body is just too short for my liking!

Good thing the new e-maxx (3905) is a fact; proline will be making more larger bodies within time.

For mounting the body, is a body reamer a must or can I just use a drill bit on the inside of the body?
I'm also conidering using gorilla glue to mount 4 of the plastic washers on the inside of the body for support.
Tips techniques would be great. Thanks
Jade

I use a body reamer, worth it if you do alot of bodies. I always mount the body before painting, easier to line up the posts thru the clear body. I also trim the body completely before painting.
You might want to experiment with the glue on a scrap piece of painted lexan. The glue may soften the paint and it would look nasty from the outside. I use thick vinyl sticker on the inside of the body to stop rub thru. I have also used the foil tape that a/c guys use to seal up ducts, and it works great, very difficult to rub thru that! Plus you can get it on a rool, instead of having to cut up the vinyl.

I used to use a really small drill bit to start the hole and align things, then a larger one or maybe 2 to finish the job.
You dont need a reamer. I have one now, but you dont need one.

I am going to use a standard savage body which is a little longer then normal but not really long enough. It is probably going to look a little strange. The other issue is that I have painted the body but haven't put the post holes in. Any hints on how to do this?

Use a flashlight from the underside, and a marker to mark the body posts. The shadow of the body post should be visible. You may have to dim the lights in the room to see this.

Well the barry manilow helped a lot and of course something had to be born afterwards and it was this:
As you can see the body is a little short but it will do. Those aren't going to be the wheels I run though. I am thinking maybe some 17mm wabash wheels (most offset 40 series wheel) with big joes.
