neu motor shaft coming out? - 03.15.2008, 04:08 PM

hey im not sure if this is a normal thing but the shaft is starting to come out and so it is making me strip my STEEL spur gear...

i have to take off the mount and hammer it back in. im guessing this is not a smart idea? ive only done it twice so ihope i havent screwed too much up.

let me know if theres anything i can do.

erm i would say perhaps contact steve neu and see if he will fix it alternatively take the motor apart and try to bond the magnet to the shaft using green loctite or something like that.

Is it a bearing issue, or is the magnet seperating from the shaft? Either way, I'd contact Neu and not worry about messing it up further...

Add an "s" to the end, and it will be at the top of the list. Annoying, I know.

How far does the shaft come out?

that is weird.

umm... well. i had it set perfectly so the pinion is touching the spur completely. after driving for a couple hours (took about a week) it started slowly moving and one day it moved so far the pinion wasnt even touching the spur.

yesterday i hit it back in and drove it and within 5 minutes it went back...

Mine was doing the same thing. It was coming out and tearing up the slipper pads on my Revo. I thought it was the pinion coming loose, as it slipped just a bit.

Was running it yesterday for the 1st time since Nov, ran fine for a bit, then shaft came way out and now the power is weak and its stuttering at low throttle. I think something has happened to the motor...not good as I haven't had it that long..

hopefully you'll have better luck

I had one that did that the first time I ran it. I sent it in to them and they replaced the rotor. Havent had a problem since. It was the magent that was broken loose from the shaft is what they told me.

Id say call or email Neu and they should get you all fixxed up. Iit took about a week and a half to 2 weeks shipping both directions and the repair included.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

You make enough of anything by hand and your gonna get an occasional unit that isn't quite up to snuff. But thats what warranties are for and why buying from companies with strong support is aways a good idea.
