clip on heat sink for a neu1512 smooth? - 06.23.2008, 01:14 PM

ok getting impatient I can't get a finned version of 1512 i want only the smooth can. Is htere a clip on heatsink that would work on this motor?

I got everything i need now except for the motor so waiting is getting tough.

I just ordered an integy heatsink with optional fan attached, using a 1512/2D/smooth, should work ok and still allow the motor closer to the spur for smaller pinions (RC8)

edit: oops, I ordered one for a 36mm medusa motor, the neu smooth can is 40mm

Umm guys those heatsinks are for 36mm diameter motors. The Neu 15 series are 45mm in diameter. None of those will work.

Edit: My bad, the finned Neus are 45mm, smooth cans are 39mm.

I have one of these Heatsinks for my 1512/1.5d and I cut the larger diameter end off and it fits perfect.I used arctik silver thermal compound to secure it.Just remember it wont come off.

Neil you made me want to pick up my ducted-fan car project again... I may have to buy one of those "plug and play" kits they have on that site.

ok, of course id test throughly before paying that sort of money if its not even nessary, and imo, the smooth cans look more expensive, as they dont need built in fins to keep cool!

They look good, would be interesting to see if they work as good or better than the standard fins on the motor
