need help selecting motor for rc8

I have commited to convert my rc8 to brushless.
was wondering what motor would be the best to run on 4s at the moment.
I am only looking for nitro like speed,maybe a little more,but want as much runtime as possible.
I will be running 2 2s 5000mah 20c lipo's.

If you want the best, a NEU is the best motor to choose...on 4s go w/the 1512 2.5 D F (2000kv) If funds are an issue, a 9xl would work w/a heat sink. It really depends upon how deep your pockets are and your individual set up choices.

I am not unlimited funded,but only want to buy it once.

you could also go with a Medusa 2000kv motor price and quality between a Feigao and a Neu...costs

Medusa=$125
Neu=$250

or buy a few from hobby city, less than $30 each. comparable qauality to the feigaos!

how about the 2d? (2550kv)? maybe too fast though, but its what im waiting for from castle (still hasnt been sent out since my payment on the 30th of april...)

Medusa 50mm 2200kv
Medusa 60mm 2000kv

Each will give you nitro speed and plenty of runtime.

from what I have heard from posts on this forum and others is that the quality is much worse from the Hobby City Feigao clones compared to the original Feigaos

Geez... worse than a Feigao. So basically only good for a very strong refrigerator magnet.

If you only want to buy it once then buy the best. Get a Neu. I agree with the recomendation of the 1512/2.5D. It will give better than nitro performance and excellent run time.

what is the deal with the 1515 motors?
are they to much torque for the buggy's?
I think I will be buying a neu,just trying to find out the characteristics of the neu's.
so much info out there,hard for me to decipher the differences in the motors.
I really appreciate all the help and the info.

has anyone seen anything on the rc tekno conversion kit for the rc8?I heard they are
ready to be released in a week or so and was thinking about getting it,the 8ight kit looks great.There are many ways to do the conversion now with rcpd,novak,tekno,rcm.which one do you go with?I could also fab up my own "kit".

I run a 1515 in a converted Revo(about 10lbs) I have the wide ratio gear set in the tranny and have geared up the pinion/spur to 38/18 and still get wheelies if you are not careful. I would go with the 1512

The 1515 are also fine in a buggy. I have run a 1515 in my buggy many times. It doesnt really drive much different that the 1512. It will get slightly lower motor temps than the 1512 but it also gets slighly less run time. The 1512 is plenty of motor for a buggy and motor temps are still fine as well. If you plan to race it go with the 1512 to save the weight IMO but a similar kv 1515 would be fine as well if you want to go that route. A 1515 would give you the option of carrying a little taller gearing if you wanted to gear it up for crazy top speeds, but on the track you really dont need more than 40 mph and the 1512 can easily provide that. (and more if you want it)

I am partial to the RC-Monster stuff. The original and still the best IMO. The Tekno stuff does look nice, but the clutch is a negative IMO. I tested a setup with the Tekno Clutch and didnt care for it at all. The direct drive is the better way to go for electric. (At least for my driving style it is.) The clutch also forces you to run the mechanical brakes and in a buggy I didnt see any benefit. (just more weight and complication) I do run mechanical brakes in my brushless truggy and do like having the brake bias ability, but truggies require a diferent driving style to be fast and the fast guys tend to have a little more "loose" style than the fast guys in buggy where it reqires a little more precision to get around the track fast.

I would be using the direct drive on the tekno kit,f/r brake bias doesn't seem to be a must have on this buggy.I have the brakes 50/50 now.
I think I am going to buy the 1512,rc-m has them in stock
