Savage Tranny - Got his pants down... now what?? hehehe - Locking it up in 2nd - 07.16.2008, 05:40 PM

Cut and pasted from another place i posted at last night =)

Yo everybody =) For my BL conversion, I wanna lock this tranny up in 2nd gear (so i can use the BL motor for brakes and reverse) and take out everything i dont need...

OK - so i've opened up the tranny, and i think it's got a reverse module... i need to know what gear is what in here, and what i can take out and what has to stay...

I'll get some pics tomorrow, cause i dont really have time to write this even, but would like to get some sort of a start on things -lol-

I'm wondering - on the OUTER SPUR gear side of the tranny - which of the 2 gear INSIDE relates to 2nd gear, and which is first? Would the gear on the OUTER edge of the 'box (closest to the spur gear) be second, or is that first?

On the other side... there's 3 gears... 2x plastic and one metal... the metal gear is locked on the shaft with a pin, and spins/connects to another gear which i think is basically the reverse module?? (same side of the 'box - the other side to which the spur on the outside that connects to clutchbell gear is on)

damn - i'm stopping here - i cant explain this without confusing anyone -lol-

But basically need help from here to lock it up in second permanently - forward and reverse =) Will get pics tomorrow, and make this thread a lil more useful -lol-

cheers guys =)

-daniel

GOT A PIC NOW! =)

Thoughts please on what i can take out and how to lock it up?? =)

bigger gear is second gear. Use jb weld to weld the gear to the clutch. Remove all other gears and good to go. THe small solid peice is the part for the brakes (mechanical brakes) it is how the shaft that rotates actually pushes out on the pads to slow it down.

nope you got it wrong in there. Keep the smaller gear on the right side. Keep both metal gears and the larger plastic gear on the left side. The 2ng gear clutch is bolted the the shaft so you just need to JB weld the large plastic gear to the clutch
