tamiya m-04l beetle - 07.19.2008, 02:24 PM

since my revo wont be running for a while. i decieded to get something cheap that i could run while the waiting for the mmm to be re-released. so i got the tamiya m-04l beetle. its pretty nice. built it in about 2hours. the cool thing about it is its rwd lol. no 4wd like most on road cars are. i think im going to find some longer shocks for it and put some rally tires on it and take it off road since the gear box is fully sealed it should be fine.

for being it has the stock motor and stock esc and 6cell 3000mah nimh battery it can kinda do a burn out. when i punch the gas it well just start going sideways lol.

here are some pics of it.

i still got to paint the body. im thinking about flat black and then putting some of the crome bumpers and mirrors on that was included

i dont think i well be going brushless in it cause i dont think the tranny can handle it. plus i like it how it is. i might just get a better battery pack.

let me know what you think.

Looks a lot like my TL-01 stadium raider. I dig it :).

I love tamiya. Downstairs are:

2 Tamiya DF-03 dark impact, both with MM 5700's
1 Tamiya CC-02 Touareg (many mods done to this one)
1 Tamiya TL-01 Stadium Raider
1 Tamiya TA-02 F-150
1 Tamiya TA-02w Hummer

Guess that's all the Tamiya's right now. Neeeeed more :D. I been wanting to pick up a Tamiya rally car for quite some time. The Bug should be a good candidate for a rally-type conversion.

I think you'd be suprised how well the Tamiya gears hold up. I bet you could get away with a sidewinder 4600 combo in that puppy and have a real screamer. Might be a bit hard to handle with the RWD though....

i got the body all done today. it looks pretty good. i like all the crome bumpers and stuff that it comes with.

also found some nice rally tires at work so i might be getting those and putting them on and seeing how good this thing does in the dirt. lol.

but one thing is for sure. this car is really hard to drift haha. at my work its all fake tile floor and it is hard as hell to drift this car. i guess only 4wd cars drift lol.

i well get some pics later
