stripped 1/8 buggy wheels???? - 07.21.2008, 12:18 AM

has anyone else done this? i was cleaning it up getting it all packed up to take on vacation and i find one that is stripped completley round and another looks almost as badd. I KNOW the wheel nuts were tight i checked them every run ? what gives? these are BRAND new proline wheels......

I had a set of the jconcepts rulux wheels do this first run,not common but I have seen it.
I have also nboticed if you gorilla the nuts on like I do,you actually make the hex turn a little in the wheel, but if you don't tighten, they loosen up.Catch 22

I honestly think the proline wheels are a bit soft around the hex. The plastic is probably designed to be flexible to absorb impacts and provide better traction but around the hex they can be fairly easy to strip. The other thing that will do it is if the ribs on the inside of the wheel can catch on the arms or if something goes into the wheel and jams between the ribs and arm.

cheap premounted tires and good rims at twister tire usa... shameless plug ya but I am really impressed with these tires. I stripped out my j concepts front on my b44. sucked because the tires had barely any use on them.

I am using the super soft compound. the sticky is designed for hard pack. I had softs and super softs in both sticky and adherence and just run the ss. I don't see any wear on these tires. hard to beat the priceand they haven't needed touch up gluing. they even drill the hole in the outside of the rubber which many pre mounts don't.
