Argh!!!!!! - 08.16.2008, 01:40 AM

Not sure if I should put this thread in this forum, but since it's sorta on topic, here goes:

I think everyone knows me and my story at this point! With that in mind, I decided to do a little troubleshooting. So I hooked up my Rx and steering servo only, and plugged in a battery pack. Much to my surprise, within seconds of doing this, my $125 digital servo became RED HOT, and started melting!!! WTF! Will it ever end??? I have no idea why, but one of the little chips on the board is bad apparently, and when it sees a battery, it just starts frying itself. Of course, it's no longer under warranty. SUCKS!!

I also checked to see if my motor screws were too long (I have digital calipers), and they're not. Nope, no shorts here, they're actually the perfect length; they go about 3.04mm into the motor case. Perfect. I knew I checked this before.

So, MMMv2 #3 (that's 4 MMM's total) arrived today, and a few minutes ago, I finished hooking everything up (had an extra servo laying around for steering, but WAY underpowered for this application). Much to my surprise, IT WORKS!!!! :y ipi:

Yes, I calibrated it, and not only did I get to mount the wheels and pull the trigger for the very first time, but I drove my Muggy around the house!!! It really, truly WORKS!!! Tomorrow can't come fast enough!!!

I'll keep everyone posted in the brushless forum. Hopefully, it will be ONLY good news, and NOT another broken high dollar component. Under warranty or not!

THANK YOU PATRICK!!!!
