Slash+mm7700 - 11.09.2008, 01:41 PM

I like the power that the 7700 has and was wondering if you think it'd be ok temp wise in a slash geared 17/90(45 theoretical top speed)(56980 rpm) and running 2s lipo

or would that be pushing it?

I don't have a slash, but a rustler and have ran the mm with a c4 7700kv motor on 2S lipo. I think it was geared 19/90 or 20/90 and the temps are great. The lipo is ~80-85f, was ~110-120f, and the motor was ~120 on the can depending how hard I was on it. But in my opinion (which is pretty limited) I think it's a very efficient setup. I've even got the FLM aluminum chassis that makes my rustler hearier then the slask I think.

I have a slash, i run mm5700 on 7-8 cell gp3300's stock geared it doesn't get hot unless i beat on it hard for a few packs straight. I wouldn't run the 7700 unless thats all i had, i think a 5700 or a lower kv motor would be better even though the slash is pretty light.

i assume it should be ok cause in my st I ran a 21/87 and it got pretty warm but never enough to melt anything...so I am thinking geared more conservative like 17-16/90 should be fine...Idon't want the 5700 but I might buy it not sure

I was just running my stock geared slash(18/86??) on 2s lipo 8000 with the mm + 5700 and the motor got toasty after about 20mins, and its like 50 degrees outside. Just figured i throw out some useful info, i really wanna get a velineon 3500 or mm4600 with 3s lipo, but the speed of the 2s setup is plenty for offroad. let me know how your setup is, im curious. Peace!

well i ran the 2s lipo(8000) in my old st geared 21/87 and it didn't get too warm now I did run the mm 7700 that i used to own on my slash with a 8 cell pack and it got way too hot batts were 160 range and would only run about 5 minutes...according to the gearing chart I had a 70mph estimated ratio(this was running stock gear ratio)

but i think i am gonna run the mamba max esc and try one of the hobby wing motors:

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=7195 for $41 bucks and run a 2s/ 3s setup and see how it goes
