Need a spacer made

hey mike im not sure if you seen my PM but I need a 5mm ID with a 6mm OD spacer made. I know that is a thin spacer and im not sure if you can make it or not but let me know.

I amnot sure what the application is for, but can't you just get some tubing and cut a piece to length for it? Steel, aluminum, or stainless??? Just a thought.

I cant find that size tube. and what do you thinks its for?

I have no idea what it is for, that is why I said in the last post that I have no idea what the application is for.... I was mearly saying that you could go on line and find some tubing that size and make the spacer very simply by cutting it to length. You have to decide what you want it made out of and acquire the tubing first. Then you can make the spacer you need and even make spares. It is a spacer.

IDK about the tubing idea- the smallest wall thickness I can seem to find is 0.028" or about 3/4 mm. Of course, that tubing could be milled down on a lathe to the required diameter.

No biggy man. I wasn't trying to give you a hard time. I was just trying to make a suggestion that may give you other options, so as to avoid having to wait on Mike. We all know how busy he can be. If you have a contact for a local mill shop they may have something on hand that meets your needs, or even make something up pretty quickly and cheaply?? Just trying to think of what I might do in your situation. Hope you find what you need. Good luck with that.

You might try wrapping aluminum foil around (whatever it is) in order to fill the gap.

it is for a motor shaft. im kinda doing a weird setup.

personally id take a solid piece of material and bore it out with a boring tool. Then go back and fix the OD.

but i guess you just need to find a lathe

I exchanged emails with him yesterday about another issue, and he is knee deep in production of something else right now. He is truly very busy and that is why you are getting so many alternative suggestions for your problem from everyone else right now. We all know how busy he is with the RCM site, the RCM store, and the RCM shop most of the time, and making a spacer falls very low on the list of priorities I am sure. Mike works on a lot of very intriquet machining projects that just cannot be done any other way, and making a spacer is something that anyone can do with common shop tools. You just have to use your imagination and come up with an alternative, or ask one of the other forum members like metalman who fabricates a lot of stuff for other members. Good luck with that.

oh trust me i understand that he is a very busy person thats why i have not made a pig deal of it. for now my friend semi pro came up with a temp fix till i find someone that could do it.
