i am converting my old black frame emaxx to a gray frame emaxx, are the 14 volt motors the same as the 16 volt motors and what pinion should i use on the 14 volt motors they have 18 on them right now and it seams a little slow i am used to the 2 speed tranny, onyone convert the steering on the new emaxx to 1 servo instead of 2 and what did you do
The motors are the same. However, the tranny gearing is different, thus you will need to use a different gear ratio. Do yourself a favor, go to the traxxas site, and download a copy of the 3905 owners manual. They have a gearing chart for it in there.
To go to a single servo, just go buy a high torque metal geared servo, put it in. Remove the other servo and the splitter from the reciever. Done. You will want a servo that has a minimum of 220oz-in of torque (I think that is what the stockers add up to).

The new emaxx tranny uses a 19tooth pinion, the old one uses an 18tooth pinion- the final gear ratio is about the same though due to the different tranny ratios and spur gear sizes- 18/68 is fine.
Bear in mind though that only the front and rear ends can be recycled fomr your old emaxx, since the chassis, braces, and tranny are all different on the new truck, as is the drive line (better diffs, knuckles, driveshafts and different turnbuckles). I think you'd be better served just buying the FLM 3906 chassis, and upgrading to 3905 driveline parts as mentioned, then get the rc4wd.com metal tranny gears to beef up your truck- cheaper in the long run I reckon.
I've been in that RC4WD site a couple times and never saw those gears.
I stripped something out of my G-maxx single speed yesterday. My spur and input shaft pull right out the front (I'm guessing its the ever famous roll pin). Anyone have a good replacement part for that?

Yeah, a bent drill bit works the best. I can't recall the size.
I ended up using a piece of a hex driver. I had to press it in using my vice - and a hammer on the handle. I dont think this one is coming out.
It took me a while to find the remains of the one that came out. Ended up completely embedded in the bottom nylon gear! Luckily, I had a spare Emaxx tranny, so I robbed the gear out of it.

Same here- I used a piece of hex wrench and Jbwelded it in place- solid. I did however manage to strip 2 stock output gears, so the alloy one from rc4wd was my only upgrade option (gits wouldnt sell me the gear by itself, I had to buy the whole kit just for that one output gear).
