Well I'll start this by saying I'm DRUNK so any typos or anything else, blame it on the captain!!! I'm a member of Local #58 sheet metal union out of Syracuse, NY. The first week of the year they told me they where sending me to the competition. I thought this was a state competition for apprentices, when I got here I found out it was regional, as in the whole north east(region 1). Just coming here puts me in the top 3000 or so apprentices in the region. There are a few different categories of sheetmetal such as HVAC, TAB, Architectural, Industrial, and service. I came as an HVAC student. I wound up finishing 5th. There where 12 students and I was the newest to the trade. My goal was to finish in the top 50% and I succeeded. As all the people on the region one comittee, all the proctors, judges, and my local guys said i was a winner just for making it to the competition. I was the first guy sent in about 6 years from my local, first guy they thought stood a chance! I only have 2 years 5 months into the trade, before that I never touched a piece of sheet metal! Now I can take a flat piece of metal, fabricate it into a piece of duct work and install it, and I'm one of the top apprentices inb the country! Any how I'm just drunk and excited and wanted to share this with my extended family of RC-M.

P.S. Free trip to Albany, free hotel, free food, and free drinks the whole time I've been here! Spent $20 so far on a shirt at LL Bean and tipping thebartender at an open bar! Well worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice work man, and something to be proud of for sure! I am also very impressed with your typing, being that "You have a little Captain in you!" Take advantage of that free bar and food! That is a sweet deal!

Good job!

I won a jager machine (thing that takes 3 bottles on the top and dispenses chilled shots) at the local bar halloween costume party. I was a pirate, dar.

And before that I won a kids coloring contest 2 years in a row!!! I got a cool stuffed fat chicken each time. I have a feeling that I did better than anyone else due to being 17 at the time, I can color inside the lines really good (well)! But my pair of fat chickens were well worth it !

Well I thank all you for the congrats! I never win anything either! Thats why I only finished 5thyh. I only have to make it to the car tomorrow morning so I don't really care what kinda condition I'm in! I got a 3 hour ride home to sleep it off on top of tonight. Open bar is closed so I walked across trhe street to the gas station. Drinks are ridiculous at the hgotel! A botle of beer is $5. I'll have a couple mor edrinks and hit the sack! Gotta live bit up while I can, first time in a hotel!!! Last night we had a VIP hospitality room given to us by the hotel, to bad I had to get up at 6AM! Looking forward to going to Vegas next year for the nationals hopefully!

Sometimes I wonder what you actually read on this forum? I have no idea what half of your resonses are related to. Still funny, that is for sure. We have to go drink and hoot at the women one day. Hell we can get Shaun to pay for it!

I don't think that 6-7 drinks is gonna kill me! I may feel like shit in the AM, if I keep drinking I might puke, but I'm no where near alcohol poisoning and I don't have to drive.

Linc - Vegas would be awesome, I'm sure of that! Never been on anything bigger than a cessna so that would be a first for me too!

As far as trades go tin knockers are honestly the last true constructiuon trade! We are the only ones that fab and install! Everyone esle buys there stuff from us or home depot!

any of you live with puerto ricans or jamiancs or some island fookers, this girl is telling me im going to die and my dads wife is a cheater by cards.. a fresh deck of cards she told me to fold 3 times, i refolded them so it was still a brand new deck and she cursd me.
