Zippy Flightmax 25c for MMM/Neu 1515/1y

Just wondering if these batteries will be enough for my system, I would think so as ive heard nothing but good things about zippy's. Should i wait for the 30c's to come back into stock or if the 25's will be enough.

What's the price difference? If you can wait and the price is v/close, go for the 30c. The 25c's will do nicely though.

I run a 4000mah 25c zippy with a CC/neu 1y.. battery gets kind of toasty, i would wait for higher C

K, thanks for the info, I guess i can wait until they get back in stock as i have to wait to get my motor back from Neu anyways.

running a higher mah pack will help with that

Definitely get a 5000 mAH pack. I had a Zippy-H 20C pack (5000 mAH) and with my Neu 1515 1.5D it ran great. I would go for the 30C 5000 if you can fit it in your setup, but I wouldn't worry too much about the 25C as long as it's a 5k pack.

i just got my 30c 4s 5000mah flight max lipos the other day and all i can say is WOW!!! I ran it in my sc8 (MMM neu1515 1/y/f w/ buggy tires) and it has the punch of my 5s 5000mah 20-30c zippy-h lipos....i would definitely wait for the 30c if you can...they are a lot shorter than the zippy-h (the flight max lipo fits snugly into the AE rc8 conversion battery tray) but you have to cut off the bullet connectors and solder on some deans or whatever connector you want....

From what I can tell the 5000mah cells hold up better than the 4000mah cells in general, but ya even for the same C rating you get more amps. I just ordered a 5000mah 25C and if the specs are right it should be more than enough. 125A continuous is a lot and bursts of 175A is just crazy.

Unless you do something like gear it way to high it should work just fine and those batts should be more than enough. When I get mine I will post how it runs. I plan on using it in 5S config with a 3S zippy and a 2S truerc 8000mah 15C lipo and MMM 2200 combo.

im not sure if its a good idea mixing different manufacturers, voltage and capacity if thats what your planning on doing.

Definitely not. Unless you can manage to stay within the lowest maximum amp draw, and only discharge until the smaller cells cut off. You know what? Forget that. Just don't do it. The smaller cells will discharge much faster than the larger capacity cells, and you run the risk of over discharging or potentially reversing the polarity on the smaller cells. I'm sure that wouldn't end well.

Go ahead and experiment, that way when you kill the flightmax lipos you can send them to me and I ccna examine them. That will be mush cheaper than me buying my own to look at. Thanks for thinking of me!

If I were you I would not do that. Mixing lipos is bad, Mm-Kay.

Sounds good, I'll take the advice. This is what I was thinking though. I would have put the 2S and 3S in series for 18.5V. The truerc are good for 120A continuous and the zippy 125. My continuous amp draw would not even be close to those numbers and I was thinking gearing for about 45mph on my emaxx. The 3S pack would run out quicker than the 8000mah pack, but the LVC should cut off at that point. So I figured it would be safe. If I set the LVC at custom and keep it higher than normal I thought it would be ok. But I see your point, with one pack reading high, it could overdischarge the other pack and the lvc might not catch it. I didnt think about that.

I have had bad luck with batteries in parallel and exactly what you guys mentioned happen. One pack runs out before the other and overdischarges and puffs and the lvc never had a chance to turn on because the pack that still has a charge keeps working. Actually if that pack is overtaxed because of tooo much current draw then you lose them both.

you could keep track of your time and stop running at this point, this is a method the boat and heli guys use

Their power consumption is much more consistent throughout the run. Especially for the plane/heli guys. So timing is an effective method. Cars/trucks aren't consistent at all.
