Anybody happen to know AppleEvents/Applescript? - 04.18.2009, 10:33 PM

So, here is the story... I listen to my iTunes all the time... When My macbook is at my desk, its plugged into my Creative 2.1 system. when im at my bed, or out and about, I use the laptop speakers, and depending on the other places I am, I use headphones. I have the itunes EQ tuned for my 2.1 speakers, and use small speakers default for the laptop, and usually just rock for my headphones. I got sick of opening itunes, then the EQ window to change it, so I wrote a quick applescript... What I was thinking of, is to write a script that, when something is plugged into or unplugged from the headphone jack, call up my EQ changing script. The thing is, I am not sure where to get the state from. any help?

you can find the script I wrote at http://eovnu87435ds.pastebay.org/9834

Whoa, I'm not an Applescript guy, but I would be surprised if iTunes had that level of knowledge of the system hardware, or at least exposing it to the user. Would definitely be driver and hardware dependant since different audio chipsets implement features differently. Would be a neat feature! Sorry I can't help, but if you find the answer, please post it! Good luck!

itunes deffinatley doesn't have that knoledge, but I know the OS does, since it keeps different volume levels for line out and internal speakers, and of course it doesn't play out sources at once. And since I'm using a macbook, there really is only 1 real possibility for the audio card. Knowing this, Mac OS X knows whats going on with the headphone jack, I just need to find where it looks

I did some quick reading around but didn't see anything about audio settings of that nature. What you need is a table of objects, properties, methods, etc.
