Turnity Chargers? - 04.24.2009, 01:12 AM

Hey, I was wondering about some of these Lipo Chargers on Hobbycity.com.

Some of them are like 6 bucks.

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=6507

It says it outputs 1.2Amps.

So I was thinking if I got like 4 of these and 6 or 8 (3 or 4 pairs) of the 3S packs for the Mini E-Revo, I could be running just about all day. Figure one set in the truck, one cooling, one beginning its charge, one nearly finished.

At 6 bucks you really can't beat it...

Any thoughts? Or is it going to set my house on fire the second I plug a lipo into it.

How is it going to take 6 hours?

A 1600mah pack at 1.2 amps will take about 2 hours to fully top off.

Get this bad boy, it is great. You can charge 2 2s packs at the same time, and they can be different Mah as well!

Max rate is 1.8amps at the 2 amp setting, but that is fine for the smaller lipos. Plus it charges each cell separately so no need for a balancer. I have one and use it all of the time, especially when reconfiguring packs that have way out of balance cells!

Get 2 of them and 3 pairs of 2s packs and you can play all day!

But I want 3S power linc, so the fact that it charges two 2S actually wont benefit me much.

true... I have some experience with the smaller chargers like you linked. They seem to work ok, not sure if I would use them alot.

Hmm. Any reason why you wouldn't use them too much?

Cheap quality or something? I figure a $6 charger to charge a $16 dollar pack isn't too bad. If something catastrophic happens I only lose about $25 bucks worth of stuff assuming it doesn't spread to other stuff.

I definitely won't let these things touch my FlightPowers. I'll leave my ICE for that.

Putting it that way I guess you will be ok... Are you goung to mount them all to something? That would look cool, a portable box with 6 or so little chargers and a bunch of little lipos!

Yeah, I was probably going to make a little something. Have them all mounted on something and pre-wired to a single set of banana connectors to plug into my power supply. I'll probably also throw in some switches so I can turn off the chargers I'm not using.
