As long as the rest of the setup is the same and the current draw is under 80A, there will be no difference. Well, the 80A might get hotter simply because it is running closer to the max, but that's about it.
If it doesn't affect performance m I right to say it's only the temperature? Brian if I am using neu 1512/2.5d on a 80amp esc with 4s 5000 zippy I dun think the amp draw will be over 80amp even it does there's a burst of 300plus amp by the esc.
You think it would be ok as the buggy is also lighter?

Wow that's hot, but performances affected? Or just temperature? My buggy is lighter
Just the temp is affected I guess. I couldn't detect any difference in peformance. The 150A is heavier. But since the 150A runs alot cooler, i guess it is more efficient. And the amount of heat less generated seems to more than make up for the weight increment.
the 80a esc is underrated. if the MMM is a true 120a esc, the 80a ezrun is a 90a or 100a. also, the 150a ezrun,going by MMM standards would be about 140a...i made the mistake of changing the settings on my ezrun and got the magic smoke, so i sent it in and got a refund. now, i'm going to get a MMM because i want to be able to do what i want with the settings without starting a fire
They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.

If I can get my truck ready by then i will go. My truck is having some diff problems now. It is so frustrating. it feels like the diffs diffs will give way the moment it lands from a jump. are you going for practise rounds this sat?

Just to comment, you won't ever see 80A continuous, even if you were pushing around a 15+lb MT. Continuous current draws for most 1/8 RCs are in the 20-30A range. However, the higher continuous ratings the FETs have, the higher the surge ratings are also (typically), so that helps. Also, 80A (or whatever rating that any of the ESC mfrs use) is at ambient 25C. As the temp goes up, the actual current handling capability of the FETs drop, so the higher rating at ambient just gives you more headroom for derating of the FETs as temps raise. But you won't hit the "continuous" limit of most any ESC. If there were no current spikes, you could use a 35-60A 1/10 ESC on your 1/8, but because of spikes (due to sudden loads, starting currents to break mechanical and magnetic resistances, inductive loads, etc.), you need higher ratings just because higher continuous and surge ratings typically go hand in hand.
