what cable/balance board do I need for the 1210 hyperion - 10.10.2009, 07:24 PM

I just picked up another hyperion 1210 charger and need the cable from the charger to the board and balance boards for both...I see many listed for other models...just not sure which one would work for mine.

1. MBX-6 T8 1900KV, RX8 ON 4S
2. MBX-5T 1520, MMM ON 5S
3. MBX-5 ONROAD CONVERSION 1515, MMM ON 5S
4. MRX-3 ON ROAD CONVERSION 1512, MMM ON 6S
5. TEN T 2650 T8, MMP ON 3S

It appears that charger doesnt have a built in balancer as such, and instead requires you to buy an LBA 10 and dataport cable, plus the balance adaptor for your lipo's cell count:

http://www.allerc.com/product_info.p...oducts_id=2916 LBA 10

http://www.allerc.com/product_info.p...oducts_id=2561 data cable- looks rather like an rx lead with 2 male plugs to me...

You will also require the correct balance adaptor board, but without knowing what brand of balance plugs your lipos use, I cant say which one you need- they are listed in the 2nd link, though heres the jst-xh (align style, used on hobby city lipos) as an example:

the 1210 is a great charger, I have 2 of them and they are usually used to charge my cordless tool packs. Maybe it is just me but I get more power and runtime out of the cordless tools when the batteries have been charged by the hyperion, vs the std charger. I started doing this monthly to charge the nicds at .3 amp to allow the cells to self balance. Figured I would get more life out them.

As Neil said you need an external balancer, and if you plan to charger 7+s lipo you will need 2 lba 10 balancers and the network cable. I will caution that you cannot charge/balance more than a 6s pack, the dual balancers networked will allow you to charge 2 identical up to 6s packs. So you cannot charge an 8s pack, even with the 2 networked balancers. I wish hyperion had a 12s external balancer...

I am using an Equinox balancer now and only run up to 5s packs so maybe another balancer would be easier than getting the board and such. I can just get another set of the high power adapters which work well now.
