HPI Flux Tork 2200 motor warrenty?

HPI Flux Tork 2200 motor warrenty? - 09.11.2010, 06:00 AM

Hey,

do you guys at castle take Flux Tork motors for non warranty repair?

i can get a motor but its mashed... so could i submit it for non warranty repair?

Castle sell rebuild kits on their site for $25, so if it has a knackered rotoe then it may be cheaper than getting it warrantied.

it is munched...

beyond repair...

also... on an unrelated note... will castle replace the wires on my 2650 motor? one of the wires is slightly cut, but i dont wanna go for the full warranty

I think you will have too contact HPI for this , how bad is the motor ?

The rebuild kits are cheap and will make it like brand new inside , as long as the windings inside are still intact you should be ok .

If you still have the rear end plate and the wires and windings in the can are OK , then yes .

The rebuild kit may help, but if there is a damaged motor winding or rear endbell, then it won't help. We also cannot replace motor wires because of how they are wired internally on the motor. If the damage is outside of the can and about an inch away, you can usually just splice in new wire. If it is inside the can or right where the wires exit the can, then it is nearly impossible to replace the wires.

Normally we do not service HPI products, but if it is non-warranty we can help you out. We have a non-warranty replacement fee of $80.00; it includes the replacement Castle-Neu 2650 motor, shipping back to you and a new one year warranty; you will need to ship the defective motor to us first. The flux motors and ESC's are warranted through HPI to their own policies IIRC...

Thats very good of Castle, but, it does strike me as being a bit shady- buying a motor you know to be damaged / broken and then sending it to castle to get a brand new replacement; thats like buying a new car thats been in wreck then taking it to the main dealer to swap it for another one for the much less than the original cost ( $80 vs $200 if you buy direct from castle, ~$165 elsewhere )...

Sad but true.No way hpi would offer that. I would be curious to see what hpi has to say before he gets this smokin deal from castle.ONCE AGAIN CASTLE CREATIONS IS TOP NOTCH HANDS DOWN!

Until he realizes he got a 2650 instead of a 2200 back. :) Tork is a 2200kv motor.

Err...I thought they were using a 2650 in one of their setups; shows you what I know about the HPI versions. I saw the picture of the 2 motors together and assumed it was a 1515, must be a 1518 or 1520. So yea, if you send us a 2200kv motor, we'll send a Castle-Neu 2200kv back to you. Guess I should have looked at the title of the thread.

Actually they are...

The HPI Flux has a 2200Kv motor in it. And then they recently, for unknown reasons, released a HPI Flux 2350 which has an "Alphastar 2350 Kv" motor in it.

We don't really mind at all, as long as you're paying for the repair. There have been some people that have bought failed units and then tried to send them in for warranty repair. Needless to say that does not sit well with us and they are no longer allowed ANY warranty claims from us. This is very very rare and we don't let a few bad apples spoil it for everyone else. But for non-warranty repairs, the price is covering our cost on the replacement so we don't mind. I've always told people we don't care what condition the product is in with non-warranty. Smash it with a hammer, light it on fire we don't care as long as we can identify what the original product was.
